The Wyoming Cowboys came into Saturday’s contest with Air Force looking to rebound from their 51-6 beating at the hands of Boise State. Air Force came into the contest after narrowly losing to the Oklahoma Sooners on the road in Norman, OK. The Pokes and Falcons have traditionally played tight games over the years, and this year would be no exception. The Pokes and Falcons would go into halftime knotted at 7, with touchdowns by Alvester Alexander and Jared Tew. The second half proved to be all Falcons as they scored two touchdowns and won the game 20-14. The Cowboys had their opportunity for victory, but a costly fumble from the normally sure handed David Leonard sealed the deal for the Falcons. Alvester Alexander led the Cowboys in rushing with 132 yards on 22 carries, as the Pokes seemed to abandon the passing attack this game. Austyn Carta-Samuels finished 6-11 for 66 yards, but also rushed for 60 yards. The Falcons were led in rushing by their leader Jared Tew, who rushed for 136 yards. The Cowboys did seem to slow the AFA rushing attack as they held them to less than their NCAA leading season average. The Pokes will next travel on the road to Toledo, Ohio where they will face off with the Toledo Rockets who are 3-1 on the season with wins over Purdue, Western Michigan, and Ohio.
