Today the Underdog Dynasty, a member of the SBNation network, published a blog naming Tom Burman as one of the Group of Five’s top athletic directors. The Group of Five, for those not familiar, are the athletic conference that are not part of the former BCS conferences. These conferences include the Mountain West, American Athletic Conference, Sun Belt, Mid-American, and ConferenceUSA. Burman, who has been the athletic director at Wyoming since 2006. In that time Burman has overseen over $100 millions dollars worth athletics construction, his most recent is the High Altitude Training Center which will begin construction soon.

During Burman’s time as athletic director the cumulative GPA of the athletic teams has also been a priority. He has 233 student athletes achieve a GPA of 3.0 or better and has had 131 athletes earn more than a 3.5 GPA. The Cowboy Joe Club has had record breaking fundraising, including a large donation from the McMurry family towards the HATC. Season ticket growth for football has also grown under his watch.

With hires that Burman has made the Cowgirl volleyball team has recently broken the top 25 for the first time since 1994. The wrestling team is now a national powerhouse. Cowboy basketball won the Mountain West title in 2015 and played in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2002.
