Wyoming basketball coach Allen Edwards has completed his coaching staff by announcing the hiring of Tony Pujol. Pujol comes to Laramie from Bridgewater, NJ where he was an AAU coach for the Bridgewater Hoop Heaven program during the 15/16 season. Pujol has previous stops at Appalachian State, Virginia Commonwealth and Alabama where he last coached college basketball during the 14/15 season. Pujol and Allen Edwards coached together at Virginia Commonwealth under Anthony Grant, who is now an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Pujol has been in coaching since 1992 in both high school and college. Pujol is a graduate of Sterling College (Kansas) where he starred in both basketball and baseball and earned all-conference baseball honors. A native of South Florida he should help the Cowboys recruit in the Southeastern part of the US. While a coach at Alabama Pujol’s defenses were known for being some of the best in the SEC.

Pujol is an all-around coach much like Jermaine Kimbrough who was hired to the Wyoming basketball staff last week. Head Coach Allen Edward’s said:

Tony is a coach and person that Jeremy [Shyatt] and myself are very familiar with from our time together at VCU,” Edwards said at the time of Pujol’s hiring. “He brings a wealth of experience to Laramie from his time as an assistant and head coach, but, like Jermaine [Kimbrough], is a very well-rounded person that can help our program excel in several areas. We are happy to welcome him and his family to Cowboy basketball.

With the staff now complete stay with WyoNation as the Pokes look to fill their one open scholarship for the  16/17 season.
