The next chapter of the Wyoming offseason countdown features players from the offense and defense. A mix of offensive and defensive lineman, as well as a couple of linebackers. This group, like the other groups, will be important for the Cowboy football teamĀ  to keep the lanes open on offense, and lanes closed on defense. This is a fairly young group of Cowboys with Chase Appleby being the elder statesmen of the group. The seven guys below have their work cut out for them and are important to the Cowboy football future.

Luis Bach (50)
Waddie Love (52)
Josiah Hall (53)
Austin Lopez (54)
Chase Appleby (57)
Ryan Cummings (59)

Luis Bach, from Burogberbach, Germany, will be a true freshman this upcoming season. He is part of the German pipeline the Cowboy coaches on this staff and previous staffs have formed and embraced. Bach finished the spring second on the depth chart at strong side linebacker.

Waddie Love, from Encampment, Wyoming, will look to earn some playing time this upcoming season. He has yet to record any statistics in his Cowboy career.

Josiah Hall, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, was a redshirt in 2015. He moved to defensive end during spring drills, after being originally recruited as a linebacker. He finished the spring second on the depth chart at the conclusion of spring drills and will likely see a bit of playing time this fall.

Austin Lopez, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, was a redshirt in 2015. He will be looking to add depth to the linebacker corps this fall.

Chase Appleby, from Frisco, Texas, will be a senior nose tackle this coming season. As a sophomore he played in all 12 games but only started one. As a junior played in seven games for the Cowboys but suffered a season ending injury that kept him away from football. He finished the season with 11 tackles, five of them solo. He twice recorded three tackle games last season.

Ryan Cummings, from Littleton, Colorado, will be starting at right tackle this coming season. He has spent the last two seasons at left tackle. Last season he started 12 games for the Cowboys. As a true freshman he played in seven games, starting all of them. Cummings will be a vital cog to the Cowboy offense and keeping them moving this season. He’ll be heavily relied on to project Josh Allen in the pocket this season.

This group, as you saw above, is full of young guys trying to earn their way into the starting lineups. There’s certainly a lot of talent in this group with Cummings and Appleby. Cummings and Knestis have very important jobs, and that’s protecting Josh Allen from the tackle position. Chase Appleby will be relied upon heavily to help a struggling unit against the opponent rush, which the Cowboys did not excel at doing last season.

Up next is the 40s block!
