Wyoming gets the recruiting train rolling once again with their 12th verbal commitment from Rochester (IL) wide receiver Avante’ Cox.  The 5’11”, 170-pounder had 79 receptions for 1167 yards receiving and 25 total touchdowns this past fall for the 13-1 state champion Rockets.

Cox was offered by the Cowboys back on May 17th.  He visited Laramie this past Friday leading up to the Mountain West Championship game against San Diego State.  He picked Wyoming over offers from Eastern Illinois, Illinois State, South Dakota and Western Illinois.  He also had interest from Iowa and Western Michigan.

This is what Cox had to say about picking Wyoming.

“Everyone one is supportive, the facilities are amazing and they are making it 10 times better.  The coaches have been with me since day one and really wanted me.”, said the Illinois speedster.

“Laramie is definitely small but very energetic”.

Avante’ was recruited to Wyoming by safeties coach Curt Mallory.

Cox was rated as a 2-star prospect by Scout.
