Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
And DD (to an extent) and certainly VK and JG? IMO, bad head coaches are a symptom of an underlying disease. Wyoming is in a decent spot relative to our peer institutions but are failing miserably. Perhaps Burman is failing at fund raising. Perhaps he lacks vision and others can sense it. Somehow i...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
Yes. If there are issues other than HC, then I assumed a logical decision would be to try to fix those. Honest question, do you think our only problem is the HC? I guess the honest answer is that I'm not on the "fire Burman" bandwagon. He's got a tough job. He has to, just to name a few t...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
Welcome to the internet! Where condescension, straw man arguments and ad hominem attacks about trivial matters take place on message boards for jerks. You're being a little hard on him, in all honesty. Your position is that Burman and Company did something different? I said what I thought, above. I...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
DD takes off for Houston after unfortunate pool table incident. WYO's reaction, hire VK to promote Cowboy Tough. VK knows WYO and promotes tough defenses. WYO near the bottom of MWC in spending (assistant salaries, recruiting, etc.). VK fails miserably. WYO fires him and hires a piano playing man t...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
You missed the part where I said that is where a seasoned AD needs to make the correct decision between saving money and investing in athletics. A 3rd party report clearly indicated we are behind in the spending it takes to be successful. I said Bohl and his staff may not know what it takes to be s...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
I would say the problems with this are that a report was out stating that WYO had to up the ante. Rather than up the ante, Burman appears (if Cup's numbers are right) to have pulled a smoke and mirrors approach rather than fixing the problem. In other words, a very deliberate attempt to mislead the...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
Don't really understand the point of this thread. Obviously there is no need to pay Bohl more than he'll take. As for assistants, if there is some notion that Bohl could not hire the ones he wanted, then that's a problem. Is this true? Same for the recruiting budget: if Bohl said that was enough for...

Re: Thankful for the Robert Sternberg Presidency
There's some truth to this. As awkwardly and (sometimes) as badly as Sternberg went about his business at UW, enough changes were made and issues dragged out into the open to remind everyone that not everything falls apart when things are shaken up and assumptions are questioned. It's a weird legacy...

Re: I wish Vorel or Gags would do a story on the real issue.
It's a reaction to lack of commitment from the state. That's part of it, yes, though most of it is that donors prefer donating toward tangible/physical improvements rather than salaries. And, yes, the state support of UW salaries has been horrendous across the board lately. UW went through a mandat...

Re: I wish Vorel or Gags would do a story on the real issue.
One issue is that it's nigh on impossible to get donors to spring for salaries. What's the plan? Where's that going to come from? How does Burman plan to approach that?

Of course you will!If he is here, and winning/competing for conference championships in year 3 and 4, then I will say I was wrong.
It's called having it both ways!

Re: Just spoke to impeccable source
Lol. And if he wins you will run screaming and waving your arms to get the bandwagon to slow down so you can climb on.All the white hairs and blue hairs financing the athletic department poop show and Burman will be screaming in 2 years with this hire. FCS, here we come!

Re: How long will Bohl stay?
Holy moly, what a beautiful thread. And the answer to the silly question is simple: If he's a big winner, one of two things happen: 1. He leaves for a job at a big-time football school, and he leaves Wyoming in great shape, and leaves with the coaching job here very desirable for other good coaches;...

Re: Tedford didn't want the job
I find it unusual that you think a direct question is an attack. Why do you attack me when I just asked why we should believe you when you give no support for your assertion?
So, I'll ask again:
Bohl. Do you think it's a good hire or not?

Re: Tedford didn't want the job
Why are we supposed to believe you when you just make a statement with absolutely no support for it? Just tonight we read a story by his old HC, Bellotti from Oregon that acouple of days ago that he was "very interested" in the Wyoming job....this contradicts you, so again why are we supp...

He didn't want the job.The last report that came out was that Tedford had interest.
But, no matter.
Bohl is the issue now. So....yes, or no?

Tedford didn't want the job.
So, you have a choice: either Bohl is a good hire, or he isn't.
None of this "wait and see" poop. Burman doesn't get the luxury of waiting to see how he does at Wyoming for 3 years before hiring him.
So...yes or no?

Amen to that...the negativity does get a little wearing. Also a tweet from Kevin Smith saying fan base is being too negative and that he had full confidence in Burman to make a decision.

Re: Spack interviewing
If things are this way? Of course they are. You honestly didn't think we can hire someone who doesn't want the job, do you?Why compete if things are as you say?
Recognizing that doesn't really strike me as giving up. Every school deals with that, to one degree or another.
