Re: Beginning of the end...
IMO, I think the significant difference now is that they don't have to take their ball and leave. The exact same roadmap that was used before can be used again. Remember in 1978, I think it was UMASS playing in a big bowl against a big dog and then bam, the split into DI and DIA. They simply made re...

Winning and attendance
I did a very quick scan of USU's attendance. Prior to 2012, they were somewhere between 15K and 17K average (again rough numbers). In 2012, average attendance increased to 20K, and it appears they are somewhere around 22K this year. That is in increase of 5K tickets per game (assuming the 17K previo...

Re: Inexpensive (kind of) Stadium Enhancement...
Very good ideas; I wonder what the cost would be. Also, since Burman brought it up and stated anything he does on the football (men's) side he has to do on the women's. Any increases in recruiting also have to go to women's if I understood that correctly. I'm assuming facility updates are not includ...

Re: Boise has a new coach...
A lateral move. Gotta good coach, i see this and continue t think, why can't wyoming get a hint. Regardless, there will be a lot of question marks come next season in this conference. Curious to see how many other coaches leave the MWC? At one time, I remember looking at OCs that went on to flop (m...

Re: Boise has a new coach...
BSU usually hires in the family, but I find it interesting that Tedford doesn't seem to be finding a landing spot? I know many were on his bandwagon and I was not opposed to the option . It will be interesting to see if hires on somewhere or if ADs are sensing something they don't like. I believe t...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
The problem we all struggle with is how to overcome the structural problems that have cause us to have a .500 average for the last 50 years. I'm not as concerned with the past 50 years, as I am the current era of college football. Since we have started our descent in about 2000, we have only been a...

Re: Realistic Expectations for 2014
Well, SJSU loses Fales. Good point. I do think they have some younger talent on that team, but honestly I'm not that certain of their roster. They are going to be an interesting case study. I think they hit a home run with their AD hire. He started BSU on their path; we shall see what a seasoned an...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
I remain convinced that the University of Wyoming is similar to a Little League baseball player trying to pitch in the Major Leagues. We want to keep up with the big boys in this game but we are trying to do so from a position of extreme weakness. I think it is a numbers game and every year that Wy...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
Somehow it's a little hard to blame Burman for anything DD, VK and JG did, don't you think? If you're saying that we have had 50 years of averaging .500 football, you're right, and we should do better. Nope. As AD it is his job to recognize that we have underlying issues which appear to be no fault...

Re: Realistic Expectations for 2014
Just improving the special teams and defense should get us 2 more wins. My concern is that, for the most part, we get the "good" teams at home and the "bad" teams on the road. Normally, that is a good thing, but for next year it concerns me. We do get AF at home so that is good....

Re: Great interview of Burman on the Zone...
Cup is correct. There is no more investment but hopes of investing more. I'm glad he cleared that up. We have a loooong ways to go from a budgetary standpoint. He needs to do a better job of selling it. A case study could be Utah State with their recent success. It would be interesting to see if the...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
I guess the honest answer is that I'm not on the "fire Burman" bandwagon. He's got a tough job. He has to, just to name a few things, run a clean athletic department, deal with one zillion NCAA rules, supervise the academic/athletic interaction, so that our student-athletes graduate with ...

Re: I'm told it is no pipe dream
The problem is, waiting is not an option. There will be a line drawn in the sand soon and we will have to be on the right side of it. We're clowning on the FCS fans that have shown up here post-Bohl hire, but the fact is the P5 will form their own division and leave the MWCs and MACs of the world i...

Yes. If there are issues other than HC, then I assumed a logical decision would be to try to fix those.SnowyRange wrote: You thought it worked some other way?
Honest question, do you think our only problem is the HC?

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
Went with the status quo? He fires a guy, pays him like $600K to get rid of him. He hires a good coach, and gave that coach what he wanted. Maybe they'll hire a Nike designer like the report recommended, produce a video for the bus rides, play more hip hop and less Garth Brooks...but, one thing is ...

Re: Reality check on the administration's supposed commitmen
It's pretty obvious Burman thinks he can get away with this "Cowboy Tough" PR marketing lingo poop. You know what? It seems to be working on the vast majority of Wyoming fans. Oh well. I know, right? I'm pretty sure we haven't been devoid of toughness but that is the PR stunt that is sell...
