Awesome Sewell sighting!
“Being around Colorado State, I saw that football wasn’t really a big sport there," Parker said Sunday night.

Most definitely happy about Sewell. 2nd team defense or not thats got to be great for his confidence going into fall camp. Hope there were no serious injuries. Seems we came out and never lost anyone for the season this spring.

It appears Bohl agrees with me.

Tom Thornton was flying.

Late in the third quarter of Wyoming's spring game inside War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, the sophomore quarterback took a snap, turned and faked a hand off to his running back. The "brown squad" quarterback dropped into an ideal pocket and took a peek downfield.

His eyes found his receiver -- Trent Sewell -- and daylight.

“It feels great [to see a receiver wide open]," Thornton said after the scrimmage. "It’s a relief, kind of like, ‘Oh, it worked! Now I just have to put the ball on him.'

"Sometimes when the guy’s too wide open you’re like, ‘Oh, no. I can’t miss.’ But you can’t be thinking like that. You have to throw it normally.”

https://twitter.com/mikevorel/status/457693966675095552 Wyoming defensive ends Yarbrough, Puletasi reunite in spring game

Eddie Yarbrough and Sonny Puletasi were like long lost friends, reuniting for the first time in years.

On Saturday afternoon, Wyoming's defensive ends saw plenty of each other. They pushed through hapless offensive linemen, with an identical destination in mind. Whether via a bull rush or a spin move, the pass-rushers were getting to the quarterback.

And if they happened to cross paths in the back field? Well, that was just icing on the cake.

“Honestly, when I see him my face just lights up," Yarbrough said of his line partner, Puletasi. "I’m like, ‘Hey, man! We both made it to the promised land! How you been?’"

https://twitter.com/rpgagliardi/status/ ... 0165760000 Kamana has memorable spring game for Pokes

Saturday’s spring football game was extra special for redshirt freshman safety Tim Kamana.

Kamana had one of the biggest plays of the game as he recovered a fumble forced by senior defensive end Sonny Pulatesi sacked senior quarterback Sam Stratton from the blind side. Kamana returned the ball 73 yards for a touchdown that helped the Brown team defeat the Gold 21-14.

“I was just dropping back and I saw the sack and the ball pop up,” he said. “I started sprinting toward the ball, and (sophomore nose tackle) Chase Appleby went down for the ball first. I thought he was going to get it and I would try and block for him.

https://twitter.com/mikevorel/status/457718666088312833 Notes and Quotes: Wyoming football spring game

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it has to be said:

Spring camp is over.

Fifteen practices later, the brown squad picked up a 21-14 victory over the gold squad in the annual spring game on Saturday afternoon. Coach Craig Bohl, decked out in a brown suit, circled around the field, chatting with fans and overseeing the action. Before the game, he took a microphone and thanked the crowd for making the trip to War Memorial Stadium.

And on Saturday afternoon, those fans got what they expected: a deliberate, power-running offense and a physical, smothering defense.

Here are a few notes from the proceedings.

Gagliardi column: Five things we learned from spring football (WyoSports.net)

Spring football concluded for the University of Wyoming as the Brown team defeated the Gold 21-14 in front of an estimated crowd of 1,700 at Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

First-year coach Craig Bohl said he and his staff will work on a depth chart today that will be used as a barometer going into fall camp in early August.

Fifteen spring practices shed some light on what Bohl and his staff hope to do and accomplish when the Cowboys begin the season Aug. 30 against Montana. While what and how UW looks by then remain to be seen, spring drills provided a glimpse.

Here are the top five things that emerged from the spring:

UW finishes spring football with solid showing in spring game (WyoSports.net)

University of Wyoming defensive end Eddie Yarbrough came up with a great analogy when describing where he feels the Cowboys are following the end of Saturday’s spring game.

“I definitely feel as a team like we’ve got our feet in the water,” Yarbrough said. “We just need to start swimming now.”

Craig Bohl's first spring football camp at Wyoming is behind him.

It was certainly a transformative one, as the Cowboy players adjusted to two new schemes, a new coaching staff and life without a few of its franchise players.

Looking back, what have we learned? After 15 practices, here are a few definite truths.
