Wyoming D-Line adds depth via trim Appleby, Boyland
Two words is all Chase Appleby needed to sum up his transformation.
Last winter, Wyoming's sophomore nose tackle returned for his team's conditioning program weighing a bloated 295 pounds. He was too big, too slow and too quick to tire.
"I was just so out of it," Appleby said. "Football…for a little bit there I didn’t know if that’s what I wanted to do. I was just going to come back and give it one more good go-around, and really commit myself.”
By the time spring practices ended, he was 25 pounds lighter, more like the player who had received multiple scholarship offers -- including one to stay closer to home at Baylor -- as a standout defensive lineman at Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas.
