Dammit. Montana's defense gets to rest.

So there is time to discuss the good things we have seen today vs last year.

The Good

Defense
* They tackle wrapping up for the most part, No pad tackling.
* They swarm to the ball, Never did that last year ever.
* The DL looks solid and the LB's look really good.

Offense
* Wick & May one two punch is going to help us as long as that OL can open gaps.
* Rufran, Claibourne & Gentry is a solid receiving group.
* Did I mention the run game? Ya it's going to be better than it has been in the last decade.

The Bad

Offense
* I'm worried about our receiving corps, Really worried about it.
* OL need them to figure out how to open gaps.
* No pass game means teams can just shut down our run game and we're SOL.
* QB play needs to really pick up, Not sure what type of game or how many it takes before we see someone else.

Defense
* Secondary looks suspect.

Special teams have played well. Also, no dumb penalties. Unusual for an opener.

As a fellow NDSU fan (fargo resident) and happy for Craig Bohl that he stepped to the big time, Lakes is right. Another thing to note and this may take a year or two, Coach Bohl's teams wear you down. Last year at KState and today (early) at Iowa State, conditioning was a huge factor. It is amazing watching year after year how NDSU wears down the opponent. That is what Coach Bohl brought to NDSU and you will get as well.

Lakes is right that we would complain about the offense, and second half was a new story. Very true, adjustments and conditioning.

Good Luck.

As I have said before, Coach Bohl will make you feel good about your program.

Fortunately, this offense is tailor-made to close games. Should take half the clock up on the upcoming drive when the 2nd delay is over.

Why? Why not just power it up again with Wick or May on 3rd and short?

Well...17-12 vs. FCS school doesn't exactly scream "bowl game here we come!"...but it's better than a loss. Still...expectations should be tempered going forward. This team is a few injuries away from disaster.
