The fact that he mentioned he took a full scholarship makes me think our scholarship offer probably wasn't a full one.djm19 wrote:Looks like we lost a kicker to Incarnate Word???? Ohhhhhhhhhh...kay.

Yeah. I don't think it's too often kickers get scholarships, at least not right away.
In 1A there aren't partials....all or nothing.joshvanklomp wrote:The fact that he mentioned he took a full scholarship makes me think our scholarship offer probably wasn't a full one.djm19 wrote:Looks like we lost a kicker to Incarnate Word???? Ohhhhhhhhhh...kay.

He was a preferred walk-on. We had another kicker commit recently, so Coppin may have decided he liked his odds better closer to home.joshvanklomp wrote:The fact that he mentioned he took a full scholarship makes me think our scholarship offer probably wasn't a full one.djm19 wrote:Looks like we lost a kicker to Incarnate Word???? Thanks. Well I never said it was a partial, just that it probably wasn't a full scholarshipBJC wrote:In 1A there aren't partials....all or nothing.joshvanklomp wrote:The fact that he mentioned he took a full scholarship makes me think our scholarship offer probably wasn't a full one.djm19 wrote:Looks like we lost a kicker to Incarnate Word???? Preferred walk on vs. full ride, doesn't sound like it had anything to do with being ready or stepping down. Sounds more like free education vs. paying for one.Wyo2dal wrote:Seems to me more like he decided he wasn't ready for FBS so taking a step down is pretty logical but could have been religion based as well.

Can't blame the kid...
Out-of-state Walk-on at UW: ~$29,000 a year
Full-ride scholarship anywhere: get paid to play
Doesn't take a math wiz to figure this one out.

I like that Bohl is getting lots of in-state talent to stay in state (Tevis, why???). Having kids that want to be here that are familiar with Wyoming will
1. improve depth
2. build goodwill with the fans
3. help establish a positive culture program-wide
I respect the hell out of Bohl for reaching out to in-state kids. This shows that Bohl respects Wyoming and its fans and is willing to look under every stone for players that can contribute.

I agree. Awesome to see so many kids from the state getting a shot. I look at guys like Bolger who go a shot and really took advantage of it. For no other reason other than instilling in these kids that UW won't just overlook them, makes me appreciate Bohl.
