LARAMIE, Wyo. - The University of Wyoming Athletics Department announced Monday that David Primus has joined the organization as Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Branding. Primus assumes his duties on July 1, which include oversight of all fan experiences at Cowboy and Cowgirl events, coordination and promotion of outreach events and management of UW's social media initiative The Corral.

"It's always exciting when we have an opportunity to hire a UW alum," said Kevin McKinney, UW Senior Associate AD for External Operations. "David was raised in Laramie, and is invested in this university and the state of Wyoming. He has an excellent marketing background and brings a great deal of experience to the position. Forward thinking as it relates to our marketing and branding will have a major impact on the future of Cowboy and Cowgirl athletics. We believe David can provide us with that kind of thinking."

Primus comes to Laramie after four years at the University of North Dakota. Most recently, he served as UND's Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing and Licensing where he oversaw day-to-day operations and strategy of the department, including branding, advertising, ticket strategy, fan experience and developing comprehensive marketing plans for 21 NCAA Division I sports.

While in Grand Forks, N.D., Primus helped UND set overall ticket-revenue records the past three years, while the men's hockey program finished 2014-15 ranked first in the nation in average attendance. The past season also saw a 19-year high for membership in UND's kids club and 1,000 members in the student fan group, while UND student-athletes set a new record with over 8,000 hours of community service. Primus' accomplishments also included a GameDay app for men's hockey and developing UND's first licensing office.

Primus was raised in Laramie and earned bachelor's degrees from UW in marketing and finance in 2007. While at UW he interned in the athletic department's marketing office. Primus also completed his master's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame in 2011.
