Meh, just an article that was written to take up some space. Very obvious that they did very little research in their analysis.

Yes, he's done a great job and spending money that was already raised and implementing a plan that was already drawn up. He's been able to make some good hires on paper and is a stand up person, and that's where my positive commentary ends.

Shyatt: "You know, I feel like I left something in WYO. I feel like I need to go back and right the ship. Hey Tom, can I come back and try to fix things before I retire?"

Burman: "Oh thank heavens! I thought I was actually going to have to recruit another coach. poop, you saw how that went."

Burman fanboys: "Tom is doing a fantastic job! Just look! He lured Shyatt to Wyoming. #miracleworker"

Criteria for the article? Longevity.

Longevity at UW currently = Complacency & Apathy.

Say what you will...but just being at the helm doesn't mean he poop golden turds. First paragraph says it all, as it refers to his 9 year "tenure":

"...the Mountain West has seen eight new AD's take over full-member departments (nine if you count Hawaii) in the past 3.5 years. Tom Burman has become the second longest tenured Athletic Director in the Mountain West..."

And there is of course all the credit for the expansion of facilities. That were planned and paid for long before Tom took the helm. So he did a good job sitting & watching. Yeah!

Do you Lee Moon fan-boys have any specific factual beefs with this article, or do you simply spurn anything that conflicts with your beliefs?

I just think it speaks volumes as to our leadership that Burman is the 2nd longest tenured AD in the conference..,

Not a Moon fanboy, but lots of conflicts, none of which are beliefs but fact.

1. Hired Schroyer and EXTENDED Schroyer.
2. Hired DC and EXTENDED DC.
3. Despite losing the top programs in the MWC, our position from a budget standpoint has DECLINED in the MWC.
4. Our budget has not kept pace with inflation.
5. Did not lock in no cost increase clause into AA contract.
6. Terrible job promoting, branding, etc. of WYO athletics.
7. Terrible at communicating his vision. Thus far it is "things are so hard at WYO, we have to have State money just to field a team".
8. Accepting of mediocrity. The independent review nailed it. Not at the coaches' level mind you, but throughout the University. That was directly from a professional review panel on the job done at UW athletics...accepting of mediocrity. Guess who is in charge of athletics at UW?

I'll let others chime in, but we could go on and on and on....

Tom Burman is f-word awesome. If only more savvy major University presidents and Athletics administrators would read a SBNation blog focusing on non power 5 programs and hire him immediately.

The world would be a better place for my children to grow up in.

I read through the thread to find out who you are / were referring to as a Lee Moon "fan-boy", and I don't see one.

I stand by my post...always have, always will.

Giving the current AD credit for something that was planned and paid for by & with previous administration(s) is a HUGE joke. Having an AD in place for 9+ years means only certain things. Come to your own conclusions. To me, it means we have had no president, a dick-less hope-less ball-less president, an apathetic fan-base, a good-old boys club that is fine with the status quo of everything Wyoming athletics, a complete lack of vision and inspiration from the top, a work less - do less mentality because we are who we are, and a phenominal tolerance by the BOT for serving up multiple chances to f-word up on the job, because we have a WYOMING GUY.

I'm just saying that obviously things were so much better with Moon & Barta, that they just make Burman look bad in comparison, right?

Who do you folks think we will get in here, looking at the current state of the board of trustees, president, etc..., that would do anywhere close to the job that the current AD has done? You think any competent individual is going to take the job right now?

Thats not what he said. He brings up a great point. We brought in that president last year who challenged everything and was truly forward thinking and he got ran off so damn fast his head was spinning. Who in their right minds would come here after that. Thats not apathy, thats a valid argument.

In 9 years, what job is that? All the spectacular hires? The benchmarking of overall budget compared to peer conference institutions? The number of conference championships in any sport? New buildings? Which data are you using to think that Burman has done a good job?

Because, UW does have really nice buildings.
