It is easy, as Cowboy fans to be up and and down and all emotional all the time. Coach Bohl is great about staying on one level, not getting too wrapped around the axle about anything. It is refreshing.
I appreciate that he didn't bash the refs as much as he definitely wanted to. He would be fined for doing that and he did a good job not getting suckered into it.

https://twitter.com/rpgagliardi/status/ ... 1151455232 The news wasn’t good about senior outside linebacker D.J. May, who will be lost for the rest of the season with what appears to be a pectoral injury suffered in last Saturday’s 56-35 loss at New Mexico. That’s the third UW defensive starter that’s been lost to a season-ending injury this season (NT Chase Appleby and DE Carl Granderson are the others).

Wyoming loses May for season, 3rd defensive starter this season (WyoSports.net)

LARAMIE – For the second time in as many weeks, the University of Wyoming football team lost a defensive starter to a season-ending injury.

Third-year coach Craig Bohl said Monday during his weekly news conference senior outside linebacker D.J. May is done after he suffered a pectoral injury in the second half of the Cowboys’ 56-35 loss at New Mexico last Saturday.

Junior Tim Kamana is slated to replace May for Saturday’s MW Championship Game against San Diego State. True freshman Cassh Maluia, who has played mostly on special teams this season, is Kamana’s backup.

“Tim’s an older player who’s played quite a bit. Cassh’s got a lot of ability,” Bohl said. “How we chose the guy and how we rotate our guys will be determined by how they do in practice,” Bohl said.

Nulph column: Schembechler’s famous slogan rings true for Wyoming (WyoSports.net)

“Those who stay will be champions.”

It’s a catchy phrase first coined by the late legendary Michigan coach Bo Schembechler, who issued the challenge to his team after nearly half of a squad of 140 players left following a grueling camp instituted by the new Wolverines coach in 1969.

“Right away, I knew that would be a true statement,” Roullier said. “Obviously, after a couple years, it was tough. But this senior class really kept believing.

“Everyone believed in what the coaches were saying.”

Bohls a definite leader. He took responsibility for the loss, isn't dwelling on it, learning from it and moving on. Far different than the attitude of the old regimes where we were led to believe that Wyoming can't recruit good enough players to challenge so we'll settle. I think that belief has been debunked.

Bohl knows how to lead, spot talent, recruit, and build champions.

"Those who stay will be champions".

I will be in Laramie Saturday.

Go Pokes!!!!

Wyoming speedster Rico Gafford takes over kick return duties with D.J. May out (trib.com)

“I’m a guy that likes to use my speed, so I’m very comfortable with being back there,” Gafford said. “D.J. was a great returner for us back there. He had a lot of explosive returns, and we’re obviously going to miss him in the return game and on the defensive side of the ball. I’m just going to go out there and do what I can for D.J. since he is out for the rest of the season.”

“Rico is probably the fastest guy on our team,” said May, who also competed in track in high school. “... I did more like the 400 and the jumps and the relays. But Rico, I think Rico ran a 10.5, so he’s probably the fastest guy we’ve got on the team. But everybody knows we compete. It’s good. We’ve got some speed on the team.”

Once again, Wyoming has to move past poor defensive showing with San Diego State looming (trib.com)

"I think they do what they do," Stanard said of the Aztecs. "And I think they’re going to say, ‘Hey, we need to execute better than we did against them last time. There’s always issues when you watch the film that we’ve got to get corrected that they’re going to watch on film that they’re going to come back and attack.

"I think if you go in saying, ‘Hey, we’re just going to do the same thing we did because we had success the last game,' it can be a real mistake. So we have to tweak some things and make sure we give them enough challenges (that are) different than last time we played them, because they’re going to prepare for what we did this last time."

https://twitter.com/BFoster91/status/803801698338832384 "I have coached long enough, and I think anybody in coaching in football recognizes that it's really an acknowledgement of the coaching staff and the effort," Bohl said. "It's been, up to this point, a great year. We expect it to be great. From that standpoint, I want to accept that on behalf of our coaches and our players."

"Those guys, certainly in my mind, deserve that recognition," Bohl said. "They've shown the ability to make plays in a lot of games, and some guys have numbers to back those things up. Chase, it's pretty hard to have numbers there, but I think he's certainly a good player. That's a good place to be, and it's good that the media and my peers acknowledge those guys."

Wyoming, San Diego State hardly need refresher on each other (WyoSports.net)

“You can focus more on what they did to you more than what they’ve done against other teams, especially as recent as it is,” UW offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Brent Vigen said. “We’ll look at (San Diego State’s 63-31 home loss to) Colorado State as well. But we’ll also go back to what got us to our plan in the first place.”

Added UW senior wide receiver Tanner Gentry: “It’s going to be a lot of the same concepts from two weeks ago. I assume they’re not going to change up their whole system.

“Us beating them already gives us a great deal of confidence. I know beating a team twice is tough, but we did it once, and we can do it again.”

Aztecs Return to Wyoming to Face Cowboys in the MW Title Game (The Daily Aztec Sports)

Going back into Laramie, Wyo., the Aztecs will again battle relentless crowd noise and high altitudes, as Wyoming will host its first MW Championship in school history.

The Cowboys’ stable of eager fans should stampede into War Memorial Stadium in an effort to experience history even with below freezing weather already pinned into the forecast.

With unfavorable conditions looming over the Aztecs’ second showdown with the Cowboys, SDSU head coach Rocky Long will try to focus his team for it’s second conference championship.
