Behind Enemy Lines:
https://twitter.com/MurrayRGJ/status/788105502450417665 The Wolf Pack lost two more keys pieces to its defense – linebackers Alex Bertrando, the team’s leading tackler, and reserve Travis Wilson, who both could miss this week’s game – and running back Akeel Lynch retired Monday from the game. Lynch, a transfer from Penn State, had back-to-back concussion this season.

Behind Enemy Lines:
https://twitter.com/MurrayRGJ/status/788121539946348544 When Nevada lost at Wyoming last season, it was a shock given the state of the Cowboys’ program.

But, this season, the Wolf Pack is actually an underdog, even at home. That’s how far Wyoming has come in one year’s time. Sitting at 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain West, the Cowboys sit just a half game behind Boise State for first place in the Mountain Division standings. Nevada, on the other hand, is sorely in need of a victory after dropping two of its first three games in conference play.

https://twitter.com/rpgagliardi/status/ ... 8924673024 “It’s fun to walk in a few stores with teammates and have people come out to you and say congratulations and good job so far this season,” Allen said. “It’s nice to have that kind of support, and its definitely motivation for us moving forward. We’ve exceeded expectations from a lot of people so far, but I’ve always had the mindset that we are a good football team and I continue to have that. I don’t expect anything for us to change this week. We’re out to go 1-0.”

Nulph column: Bohl knew Wyoming's cavalry was coming - did you? (WyoSports.net)

There was one guy who saw the future for UW and liked what he saw.

That guy was Cowboys head coach Craig Bohl.

On the last Monday in August, Bohl uttered a simple phrase that seemed to be nothing more than some positive words for the UW faithful. At the end of Bohl’s press conference for the season-opener against Northern Illinois, the veteran head coach ended the 20-minute Q-and-A with the media with a simple, “I know there’s been tough times. But I can tell you this, fans: ‘The cavalry is coming.’”

STORY: Wyoming turns to depth at defensive end to replace Granderson (WyoSports.net)

LARAMIE – To no one’s surprise, junior Nela Lolohea will start at one defensive end spot for the University of Wyoming football team this week in place of the injured sophomore Carl Granderson.

Who plays behind Lolohea, however, remains somewhat uncertain.

Wyoming freshman defensive end Shiloh Windsor dresses for success (trib.com)

“They didn’t have any of my stuff ready,” he said. “I had to go and get my ankles taped by Cole (Vertz), and they had to go get my pants out of the back. We had to get everything situated real quick, and I had to run back out there just in case.

“I didn’t really know what was going to happen, so I was nervous. It was crazy.”

The whole process took five to 10 minutes, Windsor said. He didn’t end up seeing the field, which was probably for the best, considering the Cowboys were going up against the Falcons’ triple-option offense.

Pokes remain at #3:
https://twitter.com/MurrayRGJ/status/788394478243569664 Comment: It's unlikely Wyoming can stay with Boise State all season but a win over Nevada would put the Cowboys in a tie for first place with the Broncos in the Mountain West (pat yourself on the back if you had that coming into the year). Wyoming draws Boise State next week, so a win going into that game, which is in Laramie, would be big as the Cowboys vie for the most unlikely title in MW football history.

I don't know. Our beat writers don't do that. He's probably bitter they have one of the worst team in the MWC and we're on the rise.

I don't see it as being a dna riflehead. Did you have Wyoming predicted to win the MW? I didn't. It would be a major upset and surprise to everyone if we actually did it. Awesome but a surprise.

We were picked last in our division. When was last time a team picked last won? I'd say he's spot on. Did seem like a shot still. Just beat Nevada. We need that game so bad

Maybe I was being sensitive. But to me it appears he thinks the Pokes are getting lucky. At some point just realize the Pokes are improved and enough with the "slap your back", "It is unlikely Wyoming can stay with Boise", and to a lesser degree, "Most Unlikely Title in MWC history".

How about, I pick the Pokes 3rd because they are 4-2 coming off wins at CSU and at home vs AFA. And, they are currently 2-0 in conference play.
