Shocking Prediction: BYU should beat Wyoming by 10+ (Hans Olsen)
What Provo is Saying/Reporting
You just have to experience the inversion in winter once to hate all that is the wasatch front. Here in god's country we don't have to deal with smog.JimmyDimes wrote:When did Utah because an oasis? I get a chuckle out of all the "At least I don't have to live in Wyoming" crap. Utah is the Wasatch front, a couple decent National Parks, and a whole lot of ugly in between. I guess they consider SLC to be a major metropolitan hub with Provostan not being far behind.
I live in Denver, which is twice the city SLC is, and would love to be back in Wyoming.
To each his own....and no offense Djm19.

I'm not going to post them all here...but feel free to stop by my twitter (kdwright5407) and see how many YBU fans felt it was necessary to comment and troll my tweets about hoping Current Wyo players learning the disdain for all things BYWho that all we've all come to cherish.

I have good friends who are active lds cowboy fans. They hate the religious vitriol as much as we do, and are attempting to police their own in this regard.
The other side of this coin is our fans asserting (even tacitly) any kind of moral superiority that can come in the form of intimating wyoming fans are just drunk white trash heretics running around naked in barrels, or they're all throwing urine bombs and yelling fubyu, etc...
By ascribing generalities or any kind of superiority even in semblances of moral terms (even if seemingly innocuous) we engage in this stuff.
Just throwing this out there to support the efforts of my cowboy friends.

FYI: Hans Olsen is a Utah radio personality who is a former BYU Coug and nephew of Merlin Olsen. He has lobbied on social media on many occasions for BYU's return to the MWC, if "Power Five" opportunities weren't in the cards.POKE FAN wrote:Shocking Prediction: BYU should beat Wyoming by 10+ (Hans Olsen)

Dec 16-17 since I can't go to the Bowl game, I'm gonna go visit the SLC area in my Pokes gear just to try to start some conversation, LOL should be fun, I lived out there 2005-2006, 2007-2009
Do they secretly wish they had never left the MWC?

259: Bring on the Cowboys; Mika is awesome
December 7, 2016
The Cougars have a Poinsettia Bowl opponent, and Matt and Adam discuss the ugliness of Wyoming’s uniforms. Also on the show, women’s volleyball, Pitta and KVN in the NFL, and what does the men’s basketball team need to do to take their team to the next level.

Monson: BYU, Utah now lost in an ocean of irrelevant bowls (Salt Lake Tribune)
As for BYU, the Poinsettia was going to be their reward, no matter what. One of the drawbacks of independence is that it chains the Cougars to everything or very little at all. It's a big bowl if they win all their games and it's bowls like the Poinsettia if they don't. Although, this season was a bit different given that it was Kalani Sitake's first year, and almost all BYU fans are operating under a notion in which the coach has been issued a temporary free pass. Wyoming in San Diego before Christmas, well … OK. That will change as expectations rise.

Jason Buck: Independence is like wandering in the wilderness for BYU (Deseret News)
But now I would like to address the elephant in the room: “Independence.” Believe me, it is no fun to express my honest opinion that I believe will help the school I love and have a small minority of BYU fans make horrible attacks upon me and my family.
With the Big 12 dangling the carrot and then snubbing us yet again, we need to rethink our strategy or wander forever in the wilderness. For decades, university administrators and other academic elites have shown their biases against BYU and its standards, and these biases arguably have grown worse in recent years.
To be more specific, I humbly propose that BYU join a conference like the Mountain West Conference or the American Athletic Conference. Nothing replaces conference rivalries, and nothing replaces the excitement and passion of competing for a conference championship. We are not rivals with the vast majority of our opponents this year.

Jason takes the long-term view and is spot-on…BYU football is in a slow but steady death spiral and it will require BYU fans to eat a huge piece of humble pie to stem this descent. Jason, you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.

The Truth:
Jason Buck's comments and opinions are that of a passionate fan having once belonged to a terrific program. However, college football has changed tremendously from his playing days. What Jason recognizes is that byu is being left behind. This is true, it is happening, and independence or not, byu is slowly becoming irrelevant.......
