Now that the 2014 class is all set (with the exception of possible walk-ons, Cody Kelley would be a great addition), it's time to look at what Shyatt is targeting for the class of 2015.

Shyatt is in the midst of a very interesting experiment as he and his staff continue to build primarily through High School players in a league that has a strong influence from transfers. If Shyatt signs all high school players this fall (and all known targets are HS players, no JC's at this point) it is possible that the '15-'16 Pokes could be comprised entirely of players that entered UW direct from high school (or prep school). Obviously that is a long way off and history suggests that we will have at least one player transfer out leading to the potential of a transfer next spring, but interesting trend nonetheless.

Here is who the Pokes will be losing in 2015:

Scholarship (4):

Larry Nance
Derek Cooke
Matt Sellers
Riley Grabau

Walk-Ons (3):

Charles Hankerson
Aaron Tyser
Jack Bentz

Of course, from a production standpoint you would switch Hankerson and Sellers if you were looking at who needed to be replaced.

So, what do the Pokes need with the class of 2015? Here is the current projected roster for 15-16:

Guards:

Josh Adams, Sr.
Jeremy Lieberman, So.
Trey Washington, Jr.

Wings:

Alex Gorski, So.
Diontae Jones, So. (could also be more of a "4", not sure yet)
Jason McManamen, Jr.

Forward/Center:

Alan Herndon, So.
Jonathan Barnes, So.
Tyrell Williams, So.

It looks fairly balanced, so I would expect Shyatt to hit all positions with at least one perimeter player that can play the point, one wing, and one big man.

Here are the current known targets (as of 5/19/14):

Guards:

Austin Conway (committed)
5'10", 165
Aurora, CO
Offers: Nebraska, Indiana, Colorado, Rice with interest from Missouri

Malek Harwell (offered) - Committed to Boise St.
6'3" 170
Pocatello, ID
Offers: Colorado, Boise St., Lehigh, Utah St.

Wings:

Justin James (committed)
6'7" 180
Port St. Lucie, FL
Offers - FIU, Mississippi St., George Mason, FGCU, etc.

Isaiah Moss (offered)
6'5" 175
Frankfurt, IL
Offers - Green Bay, UIC, DePaul, Chicago St.

Jaylin Stewart (offered)
6'6" 185
Tallahassee, FL
Offers - UNC-Asheville, NC Central, MTSU, Illinois St., Jacksonville, FAMU

Jake Holtzmann (offered) - Committed to Denver
6'5" 170
Parker, CO (Chaparral HS, same HS as Josh Adams)
Offers: Nebraska, Denver

Keith Stone (offered)
6'7" 235
Deerfield Beach, FL
Offers: MTSU, UCF, ECU and many A-Sun type programs
Note: Iisted as a SF most places, but descriptions of his game fit more into the modern 4-man.

Eric Turner (committed)
6'7" 195
The Villages, FL
Offers: Charlotte, Houston, UCF, FIU

Travis Fuller (offered) - Committed to Brown
6'6" 195
Carlsbad, CA
Offers: Princeton, Brown, Yale

Sam Neumann - Committed to Montana St.
6'6" 200
St. Paul, MN
Offers: Montana St., South Dakota, Toledo

Malik Fitts (offered)
6'5" 190
La Verne, CA
Offers: UC Riverside, Tulsa, NAU

Forward/Centers:

Hassan Thomas (offered)
6'7" 210
Dallas, TX (Woodrow Wilson HS, same HS as Trey Washington and also the local high school for me here in Dallas..which is totally irrelevant)
Offers: UTEP, TCU, Northeastern

Andrew Moemeka (committed)
6'8" 200
Lake City, FL
Offers: Murray St., Louisiana Tech, WKU, FGCU, etc.

Jordan Naughton (committed)
6'10" 220
Rancho Cucamonga, CA
Offers: none known

Jordan Dallas (offered
6'10" 200
Long Beach, CA
Offers: UTEP, LMU, St. Marys, etc.

To me the staff is clearly targeting size and athleticism on the wing. A whole bunch of 6'6" to 6'7" wing players, many of them noted for their athleticism in write-ups.

It seems like Conway and Stone are top targets that the staff has been on for some time but both are getting significant interest.

Great break down. Hopefully Nance will come back 100 percent next season and wont have to redshirt. If he does come back 100 percent, there could be some real excitement next year as it's likely we'll challenge for the title and an NCAA tournament bid.

I don't think it's any secret that length and the ability to rebound has been the teams weakness recently. We've had good rebounders, just not enough of them. It's good to see the staff addressed that. We have a lot of length coming in with Barnes, Williams, McManamen, and Herndon. Diontae Jones looks like he can be a defensive stopper for the Pokes. The class is athletic across the board. We got a guy to help keep Grabau fresh at the point. Gorski looks like he can bury it from the wing. All of them play defense.

We know the keys to getting on the floor early for Shy are to play d and don't turn the ball over. If you can do that, you'll play. All five of our recruits have the ability to break into the lineup. With the redshirts coming off Mcmanamen, Herndon, and a recruit at every position, we increased the competition at every spot.

With the AA improvements and the best team we've had in a very long time, I think we might be on the verge of a pretty special recruiting class. Good things are happening for Wyoming basketball right now. It's hard to argue that. There are a lot of shiny new toys coming to the AA. The facility is going to be great next year and even better the year after that. We'll see what Shyatt and company adds to the shiny, new, category with the four scholarships he has in hand.

Justin James, nice.....

Eric Turner, there's some talent in this 2015 class,

Allante Holston,

That's a pretty good group of talent and there isn't tape available on a lot of those guys. From what I've seen, the 2015 class has potential to be a game changer for Wyoming hoops.

Correction for the OP, Tyser will be a junior next season.

This is the team after next season assuming no one leaves:
Point guard: Trey Washington, Jeremy Liebermann, Cody Kelley (hopefully walks on)
Combo guard: Josh Adams, Alex Gorski
Shooting guard: Jason McManamen
Small Forward: Aaron Tyser
Tweener: Diontae Jones
Power Forward: Alan Herndon, Tyrell Williams
Center: Jonathan Barnes

From the guys in this thread, I would add:
6'7" combo guard Justin James
6'5" small forward Eric Turner
6'7" tweener Keith Stone
6'8" power forward Andrew Moemeka
Focus on adding another walk-on at point guard with the intention of using the 2016 scholarships from Josh Adams on a true point guard.

Which would give:
Point guard: Trey Washington, Jeremy Liebermann, Cody Kelley (hopefully walks on), another walk-on
Combo guard: Josh Adams, Alex Gorski, Justin James
Shooting guard: Jason McManamen
Small Forward: Aaron Tyser, Eric Turner
Tweener: Diontae Jones, Keith Stone
Power Forward: Alan Herndon, Tyrell Williams, Andrew Moemeka
Center: Jonathan Barnes

I don't see how we could pass on Austin Conway. He looks like the best of the bunch on tape and has the best schools after him. I also like Justin James, Eric Turner, and Keith Stone. I think we would be happy with Hassan Thomas or Moemeka as well.

I'm betting we'll lose another guy this year(we almost always do) so we're probably looking at another five man class. You could just add Conway to your four man class.

The good news: we have a pretty deep talent pool in the class of 2015.

From Looking at the other board it looks like Austin Conway is visiting soon(Monday maybe, I don't remember). He has visited IU and enjoyed it but the writter that talked to him likes our chances of getting him. Said the way he talks about our coaches is different than the way he talks about the other programs. WOuld be an amazing get to steal a player away from IU, CU, etc.

On the other board they're reporting that Keith Stone has high interest in Wyoming. That's good news: a couple of the best recruits in our 2015 group regard Wyoming favorably.
