Wyoming men's basketball looks to pick up conference road win at Fresno State (trib.com)

"Great challenge for our guys," Edwards said. "The things that they do well we need to do better ourselves. Their pressure is I think one of the best -- I’ve always said that, though -- one of the best I’ve seen since being in this league. How hard they play and with great intensity. Us just being strong with the basketball is going to be key in this game."

"They just play hard, even within the half court," Edwards said. "It’s kind of the old adage: ‘They can’t call all the fouls.' Just keep staying at it. And just watching the Nevada game, it was like a tale of two different halves. They can do it in the full court a little bit, but I think they just play hard."

In tight games, Fresno State men’s basketball team still coming through (Fresno Bee)

“The first group we had here, we were in a ton of close ball games and we couldn’t make a play to finish the game. You have to have players. Players make plays at the end of the game. Coaches just put them in the right spot, then they have to make a shot, they have to make a play at the rim, they have to make plays.”

To avoid a similar scenario against the Cowboys (11-4, 1-1), the Bulldogs (9-5, 1-1) must stay in front of an offense that is averaging 78.1 points and has made a conference-leading 139 3-pointers.

“They’re playing faster than they’ve ever played before,” Terry said. “They’re getting up and down the floor, so we have to get back and try to get our defense set with some shooter defense because they can really shoot the basketball.”

Wyoming’s McManamen confident he’ll bounce back at Fresno State (WyoSports.net)

“I’m not worried. He’s a smart kid and a hard worker,” first-year UW coach Allen Edwards said about McManamen. “When you’re a veteran guy and that ball has not fallen in a game or two, you get back in the gym and get more shots up.

“He’s been shooting the ball well in practice. He’s not put his head down, or losing confidence in his shot.”

Cold-shooting Cowboys lose at Fresno State (WyoSports.net)

“Fresno State made it tough for us on the offensive end of the floor, but we didn’t space the floor well and we were selfish in that manner,” first-year UW coach Allen Edwards said. “We were too close to each other.”

Gagliardi column: Wyoming must continue to live, learn the process (WyoSports.net)

Allen Edwards talks a lot about “the process.”

The first-year University of Wyoming men’s basketball coach is 16 games into the season, and the Cowboys are still working on it.

Strides have been made. In fact, one could say there has been more good than bad with 11 victories.

But as Mountain West play enters its third week, UW is still trying to master that process.

Wyoming men's basketball ties converge at Chaparral High School in Colorado (trib.com)

PARKER, Colo. -- Chaparral High School might be located half an hour southeast of Denver, but last Friday night it was the crossroads of Wyoming men's basketball past, present and future.

Former Wyoming standout and Chaparral graduate Josh Adams was honored at halftime of the Wolverines' game against Denver East, along with the other members of his 2012 state championship team.

On the court for Chaparral was sophomore standout Joseph Dalton, a lanky 6-foot-4 small forward whose play is more than reminiscent of that of his older brother Hayden, a former Wolverine himself and currently Wyoming's third leading scorer.

Leading the charge against Chaparral was Denver East junior Daylen Kountz, a recent transfer from George Washington and a four-star guard with a scholarship offer from Wyoming. He dropped 31 points in his first game with the Angels.

Transcript: Utah State Men's Basketball Head Coach Tim Duryea on Wyoming (utahstateaggies.com)

USU men's basketball head coach Tim Duryea addressed the media on Monday and answered questions about the upcoming Mountain West contest at Wyoming on Wednesday, Jan. 11. The complete transcript of the press conference can be found below.

On Justin James and Hayden Dalton coming off of the bench for Wyoming:

“They both come off the bench and may be their two best all-around players. They have scoring punch off the bench and shot blocking off of the bench. Dalton’s rebounds per minutes played has got to be one of the best. He gets nearly nine rebounds a game in under 30 minutes. He is very active when he comes in the game. Why they come off the bench? I’m not sure about that.”

It blows my mind how so many supposedly smart basketball minds can get together and decide "Hey, let's not start our two best players and instead bring them off the bench and sit them for 5 minutes to start each and every half. And by not playing the we give huge minutes to Lieberman, Kelly and Gorski, who literally bring nothing."

Maybe it's an extended punishment for enjoying marijuana as much as they do.

I found a Trib article on our current state in the bye week. Forget how banged up the team is and how this is a perfect week to have a bye!

.@wyo_mbb coach Allen Edwards said jr. point guard Jeremy Lieberman (flu) may only play limited minutes Wednesday vs. Utah State. #gowyo

Huh? Strange. I thought he had been playing like he had been BECAUSE he had the flu.

Wyoming men's basketball returns to court at home against Utah State (WyoSports.net)

Moore scored 17 and 19 points against Wyoming last season, a Wyoming win in Laramie and a Utah State win in Logan, Utah, respectively.

“He’s a great player,” Wyoming senior Jason McManamen said. “We know that we’ve got to make it tough on him, takes his 3s away. He’s a great shooter and he can really attack the basket, too. But we’re confident in our game plan and we’re going to give him a good shot.”

Aggies look to end nightmare at Laramie (HJnews.com)

LARAMIE, Wyoming — Trips to Arena-Auditorium have not been kind to the Aggies since joining the Mountain West Conference.

In fact, it has been a nightmare for the Utah State men’s basketball team. The Aggies hope to wake up from the bad dream Wednesday night. USU takes on Wyoming at 7 o’clock, and the game will be televised on ROOT.

“The times we have been there, it has been a horror house,” Aggie head coach Tim Duryea said. “We need to figure something else out.”

Wyoming men's basketball's hot first half gives Cowboys enough to top Utah State, 95-87 (trib.com)

"As much as you want to say at halftime 0-0 is the score, in actuality, you're up 18, 20 (points), and they understand that," head coach Allen Edwards said. "But I was probably more disappointed on the defensive end of the floor. I didn't think we did a great job of listening to our defensive game plan, especially in the second half. But (I'm) happy to come away with a win and learn from that." :thumb:
