Wyoming wrestling host No. 6 Nebraska to open dual schedule (WyoSports.net)

“We’re going to have to have guys step up and battle for us,” Branch said. “Whether they win or lose, we have to have guys fighting. They’re a really good program, and this is a chance for us to go out as individuals and prove something.”

“Seeing growth in one week of practice from one tournament to the next is really satisfying,” Branch said. “When you see improvement, now you know the guys are tuned in and focused and guys are trying to put in the effort to get better.”

Meredith lost a tough match to McKenna 3-1. I still think he is the best wrestler and the only person that can beat him is his himself. Great showing Bryce.

Meredith second

Colgan third after dropping his first match. He beat a slew of ranked wrestlers. Was a coming out party for Archie

Mendenhall fourth. Cole beat a couple of ranked guys, too. Big tourney for him.

Ashworth third. Wow! did not see that coming. He beat two or three ranked guys, as well.

The Vegas tourney might be the third best tourney other than nationals. The Midlands and Southern Scuffle are the only harder tournaments that I can think of. Great job by the Pokes!!

https://twitter.com/trackwrestling/stat ... 4950654981 “I would have to say that (Saturday) was one of the better days I have had from a coaching standpoint,” said Branch, a two-time NCAA champion and longtime assistant coach for OSU. “We definitely showed up to wrestle and it was exciting from the beginning. We had big victories with three guys not only knocking off ranked opponents but very experienced and talented wrestlers as well. I’ve never had a day like this, but I think this is something that we can continue to build off of. I’d imagine a few more of our guys will move into the rankings after their performances, but we look at it as a process.”
