Of the three recently mentioned, I want Trace Young and Tre Campbell. Tre will be a senior guard who has played a lot of big time basketball for Georgetown. He will be able to boost us right away next year. And Trace looks like a complete player. He has offers/interst from KState and USC would be very big if we could land him. OF course I am still holding out hope that one of scholarships will go toward Parker Stewart but I have a feeling that ship has sailed.
With our last scholarship we need a big man but what if no decent big man is coming down the pipe? Do we take a risk on a borderline player just because we need a big man or do we take a much better 6-5, 6-6 SG-SF and just play mainly small ball this year?

Along with Trevon Taylor we've got some intriguing new players. Tariq Johnson and Bradley Belt already have great physiques and look like men. Jake Hendricks can shoot the three. Porter looks like Herndon Jr. to me, which would not be a bad thing.
Interesting. I feel a little better than I did a few weeks ago

I'm excited for these 4 players. All tall and athletic with some shooting ability. I'm very intrigued by seeing this team next year. Now who can we pick up with our last scholarships?

Where are we at? 2 left? 3?TSpoke wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:25 pm https://gowyo.com/news/2018/4/11/mens-b ... paign.aspx

I believe just 2 unless JJ doesn't come back but I feel pretty confident he will. Earlier I was thinking it was 3 but Cody leaving didn't affect the scholarship numbers(I don't think)ItSucksToBeACSURam wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:59 pmWhere are we at? 2 left? 3?TSpoke wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 3:25 pm https://gowyo.com/news/2018/4/11/mens-b ... paign.aspx

Hopefully we can try and balance these classes. The current situation doesn't look as bad as I thought it would be, JUCO guys sound great or a grad transfer to not have so many freshmen

Glad to see these guys all commit. We'll have lots of new faces next year. Any word on Trace Young or Tre Campbell, or are they still shopping around ? Any word on others we are after?

A JUCO big man that can rebound/defend would be just what the doctor ordered

Agreed. A JUCO banger that can mix it up in the paint and haul in rebounds would be perfect.Pokes fan 24-7 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 6:05 pmA solid d and rebound JUCO big and Trace Young and we are looking good.LanderPoke wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 5:43 pm A JUCO big man that can rebound/defend would be just what the doctor ordered

NCAA D1 basketball allows 13 scholarships. We have 3 open but Edwards only expects two fill 2 of the last 3.cali2wyo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 5:05 pm Hopefully we can try and balance these classes. What he was quoted as saying was that he wanted a "big" a point guard and then they were going to be very particular with the last scholarship. My take is that if the right player comes along then it will be used, they were just going to give it away.Wicks wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 8:52 pmNCAA D1 basketball allows 13 scholarships. Yeah, I would expect a big and a guard that can both have an impact right away (either JC or grad transfer) and the third can be used for the best available player even if it is a transfer that has to sit out a year.PotatoCreekPete wrote: ↑Wed Apr 11, 2018 8:57 pmWhat he was quoted as saying was that he wanted a "big" a point guard and then they were going to be very particular with the last scholarship.
