I remember Ol Bohly stating he would sign 25 "a full class" on several occasions in the past few months. The deflections certainly effected that - but what do you all think? D-Line / D-End JC or 5th year xfers?

Wow, I didn't know they offered that many.WYO1016 wrote:I'm putting all my money on DE. He offered something like 29 of them this season, and wasn't able to land any. There will definitely be a JUCO in there I'm guessing.
You can tell how big a person is by what it takes to discourage him/her.

Stanard effect, defensive scheme effect, bad luck, or what does everyone think the deal is?

The vast majority went P5. So the vast majority we didn't have a shot at. There were a couple I was excited about that ended up going FCS or MAC which was a head scratcher.ragtimejoe1 wrote:No kidding.McPeachy wrote:That kind of makes me sick. 0 for 29. Plus we had Englehaupt lined up, but the kids screwed us over and we're scrambling.

Honestly, I'd rather take a shot at 29 kids with P5 offers or end up going to P5 than kids with no other offers.LanderPoke wrote: The vast majority went P5. I like Bohl's recruiting philosophy and approach. I think long-term, it will get better.

I'm guessing that's the Mountain West school that Bohl said watched our recruiting. I've got a feeling we'll see a couple of those kids transfer out of Boise at some point. No way you can have enough snaps to sign 4 defensive ends in one class.cali2wyo wrote:Damn... the better question about that list is how many DE's are going to Boise State?

Or maybe some of these guys we lost out to don't want to venture away from home.. there's lots that factor into recruiting..WYO1016 wrote:Really concerning to see that we lost 4 recruits to FCS schools and 1 to Idaho (who may as well be FCS)
I don't know if it's our scheme or our recruiting pitch, but whoever is handling the recruiting of defensive ends needs to be replaced.
You're saying Boise State, who has had the best recruiting class every year since joining the conference, had to closely follow ol' Bohl around? I agree that they most likely won't hold on to every one of them, but come on man...WYO1016 wrote:I'm guessing that's the Mountain West school that Bohl said watched our recruiting. Air Force - 3

Hawaii - 1
Nevada - 2
New Mexico - 2
San Diego State - 8
San Jose State - 2
UNLV - 4

I don't think I'm crazy for thinking that either Boise or SDSU is following our offers.
Were the recruits who went to these schools offered by us first? Sorry, but I don't believe Boise or San Diego State are in positions to be desperate enough to follow around and snatch up Wyoming recruits. They've been the top performers in recruiting the past few years, even before Bohl got here. It's much more likely Bohl is taking some time adjusting to evaluate FBS talent (he's been quoted numerous times saying he underestimated the speed and size of the MWC) and is following around SDSU and Boise.WYO1016 wrote:MW schools we lost recruits to:cali2wyo wrote:You're saying Boise State, who has had the best recruiting class every year since joining the conference, had to closely follow ol' Bohl around? I don't see a conspiracy here. I think it says more about Bohl recognizing and going after better talent.WYO1016 wrote:MW schools we lost recruits to:cali2wyo wrote:You're saying Boise State, who has had the best recruiting class every year since joining the conference, had to closely follow ol' Bohl around?
