There is a lot of smoke out there in terms of Wyoming football switching to Under Armour as their uniform supplier for the 2017 season. One big problem though, according to my research the contract with Nike runs through May of 2018.
It's very possible Wyoming may have opted out of the contract and Under Armour could be providing the money to get out of the contract. Does McPeachy or anyone have insight on this?
Where are you seeing this smoke? What would be the benefit of switching from Nike to UA? This seems weird to me... I guess I didnt know this had any actual substance...
EDIT: It seems UA like to do a lot of flashy, special, one-of-a-kind uniforms.... Can't see Bohl going for that as 2 uniforms are saucy enough for him. Can't see the benefit of going this route if were only going to have a home uni and a road uni....
Not sure it will happen this season, but there is a bunch of dialogue about it, I promise you that.
Prefer what you will, what you like, etc., but you have to look outside of YOUR own personal desires to see that it may make sense for both parties (UW & UA).
What does UW represent...or portray...to most? Outdoors, Tough, Physically Demanding, Strength, Cold Weather, High Elevation, Etc. Maybe UA wants to tie all of that together with Wyoming Football? And 'Ol Bohly can still have his 2 uniform standard, he won't have to go poop like Nike / Dickface.
Guarantee you all would be buying the poop up quickly regardless. As would I.
I never mentioned preferences and I never said I wouldst buy UA UW gear... Not sure why you're coming at me hot about those two items.
I was simply asking where the rumblings were coming from. I didn't know this had any real substance and was asking for further proof.
And you didn't answer my question. What would be the benefit? Are we getting the unis at a cheaper rate than the Nikes? Is UA going to sponsor some national campaign with UW as a piece of that campaign? Is UA going to sponsor some huge Josh Allen Heisman push? Is this a football only switch or is it a university wide switch? What does UW get from a switch at this point? I haven't heard anyone necessarily say Nike's unis don't perform or suck or anything similar so what is driving this conversation?
Slow your roll. My post wasn't directed at you, it was to answer Wick's question about whether I had any insight. Jesus we are bunch of thin skinned fans.
Rumblings are coming from within our athletic department...proof will come when UW determines an appropriate time to release it, and if it needs to be released - or if there is anything actually TO release (one way or the other).
What would it benefit? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
it is all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (savings, kick-ins, sponsorship dollars, etc.). As is almost everything with the athletic department, as it probably needs to be. From what I understand, it is football only, and not to hurt anyone's feelings on this, but it is almost common knowledge that Nike could give a poop about UW football. Could that change, certainly, especially if the wins keep coming, in greater quantities, and when you have more Brian Hill & Josh Allen type athletes.
