And here we go...
I bet Brian would have stayed for his senior year if Wyoming put names on jerseys! </sarcasm>
Ok, time for another uniform debate...

I appreciate the mentality the coaching staff is trying to foster. We need dedicated players who realize they represent something bigger than just themselves. I hope we stick with no names.
Also, if you're a fan and you don't know their names because they're not on the back of their jerseys, you're not really a fan.

I'd like names just so I can tell who's who. I consider myself a real fan, laradise! I do like the reason behind the no names, though. Team first is the right way. would be nice to know who's who though on special teams

Our 1987-96 unis never had names on the backs except for the bowl games and we won conference championships (1987, 1988, & 1993) with them that way. I miss those unis!!!!!
I want CHAMPIONSHIPS not chicken poop! And we're getting chicken poop!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Brian was taking a shot at Wyoming's policy or anything. I think he's acknowledging that he's working for himself now as all pro athletes do. The name on the back simply means that he made it.

Says the guy that anytime that uniforms are even hinted at, declares his love for the 87-93 uniforms.

This isn't necessary.LaradiseCowboy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2017 11:24 amAlso, if you're a fan and you don't know their names because they're not on the back of their jerseys, you're not really a fan.
While some of the more common names should be easier to remember, names are nice for some of the guys you don't always hear about.
Plus, it would help ESPN tell the difference between Brian Hill and Rico Gafford!

Above all, I personally appreciate the team-first, school-first, and state-first mantra that is behind the reasoning. Especially in today's day and age where everything is revolved around "me me me". Listening to ESPN commentators talk about a team they know absolutely nothing about is very low on my priority list. Besides, you can always tune into the voice of the Cowboys.joshvanklomp wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2017 5:43 pmThis isn't necessary.LaradiseCowboy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2017 11:24 amAlso, if you're a fan and you don't know their names because they're not on the back of their jerseys, you're not really a fan.

There is a thing called a program. It has all the players listed and their numbers. Simple.

Team doesn't need an I or a name on the back of the jersey, yes I remember those years 88-93 NO names then, and we played and won and even were part of the top 20(25) then as well.
Sure wish Hill woulda stayed and complimented Josh, sigh...oh well

If we are going to correlate wearing name plates to success. The 1987 National Champions were the Miami Hurricanes...they had name plates on their jerseys that year. Maybe not having names on jerseys is what kept Wyoming from being even better?!?!?

That was necessary for the cops in Florida to know which Cane players needed to go back to prison after each game.WestWYOPoke wrote: ↑Mon Aug 07, 2017 11:02 amIf we are going to correlate wearing name plates to success.
