The economy here is to poop to build a new stadium, so it will be definately be a few years out. But I would like them to build a staduim closer to the campus b/c Sam Boyd is clear the f-word out in the middle of Arizona and it takes me an hour to drive there from my house...

If it somehow goes through, it'll either be like the Kibbie Dome for Idaho, or Jerry's World in Texas.

The Kib is an oversized airplane hangar. I'm guessing it would closer resemble something like Syracuse has.. not many domed college football teams out there.fromolwyoming wrote:If it somehow goes through, it'll either be like the Kibbie Dome for Idaho, or Jerry's World in Texas.

Idaho, Tulane (who uses the superdome), and Syracuse
But i know what the real issue on everyone's mind is....Where will they hold the monsterjam world finals?!?!?!?
disclaimer: I could be wrong. I've done it before...I'll probably do it again.

Like I said before, I will believe it when I see it. I have been working in the engineering field for over 5 years in Vegas and our economy is poop. There are going to be drastic educational budget cuts at every level because of the states economy. The state has a 2 billion dollar shortfall they are trying to deal with. This stadium would have to be "completely" funded privately by Roski and without public money's for the foreseable future. The County recently wanted to build a new state of the art multi-purpose facility near the strip to try and a garner a professional bball or hockey team and there was some serious steam going forward with it, but the project fell out because of funding issues where half was going to be funded privately and the other half by Clark County Public Works. Vegas' unemployment is the nation's highest at 14.9% with the highest level of home foreclosures. I can't see a multimillion dollar stadium being constructed anytime soon. I can see them going forward with the design which will probably take a year or so but construction would be at least a few years out...if they had money available.

It sounds like the arena is going to be privately financed by one of the billionaires there.

Another company wants to come in and build something bigger, plus two more arenas.
