Paula Dean and Texan.

Plus it seems half of Paula's foods will give you a heart attack after 1 bite. The other half takes another 1 more bite though.

French Canadian and Jersey.
"I never saw a buckin' hoss to top Steamboat. Fact is, he was the closest thing to perpetual motion that ever wore hair. Few men could stand that kind of battering without bleeding from the nose, and most became nauseated as well. Ol' Steamboat put some of the toughest into the hospital for repairs."

Overruled. Not any Texan nor Texian accent.

Lately, I'd have to say any accent of someone from Pakistan.

There are multiple real Texas accents and they are not the worst.

Besides, if y'all know about the URT, a Laramie accent is included. :ugeek:

And why would ya say it with all the recruits in Texas? Ya jist might drive 'em away.

Odd thing though, I have met Texans that have the accent, and ones that don't. Might be region specific, but there you go.

Did you hear about the middle aged lady from Oregon (I think) that went to her dentist for some oral surgery. When she went in, she had a normal Oregon/Mountain West accent, but when she woke up from the anaesthetic, she had a British accent. She and her husband were on the Today show a couple of days ago.

Yes, well Texas is big so there are a lot of accents and languages etc. There is Texas English, Texas German, Texas Spanish, native languages etc. that have been around for hundreds of years.

So there is no "the accent" but I think I know what you mean.

Texas has been overrun by outsiders very badly for many years now. Yankees and foreigners have changed "the accent" that I think you are referring to.
I speak in different accents, usually depending on who I am speaking to and in what language I'm using.
One of my friends from Arkansas and I would speak in an accent that her husband didn't understand every word. He is an Iowa Yankee. She can speak French too. That reminds me that our native languages have European languages influences. One of our native languages word for "hat" is "shapo" after the French "chapeau". And there are few of us left who can speak native languages.

And that reminds me that y'all should look up "Wichita language" on youtube and see the al jazeera news report of dead/dying languages because you can see Doris McClemore. Just at the beginning of the video she speaks in Wichita. She is the last fluent speaker. It's very sad that when she is gone fluent Wichita is gone.
Sorry, but I just got reminded of these things which were being discussed by people I know these past two weeks.

I like the Cajun accent. A lot of the French is in native languages too.

OK, how about NOT. Not pretty. And that reminds me about how language and accents change over the years like when somewhere around the Great Lakes (I think in Michigan) "bosses" and "busses" sound the same now. Used to be that those Yankee ways of talking were wanted in the National Media, so I have been taught.

I forgot to add Louisiana. At least the redneck backwoods version. And as far as the woman going to the oral surgeon and waking up with a British accent....I assume its a hoax since an accent is a learned trait, unless the oral surgeon f-word up her teeth, then it's possible. :)
