Pokes pull out win vs. UNLV, San Diego State next
WELCOME TO THE WAR, ELEVATION 7200 FEET

The Wyoming Cowboys were at home this weekend to take on visiting UNLV. The Cowboys pulled out a comeback win vs. the Runnin' Rebels. Ian Hetrick started the game at quarterback, but was pulled for ineffectiveness. Karsten Sween came in and immediately threw two interceptions. After righting his own ship he came back to lead the Cowboys on a drive that would prove to be the game winner. With a touchdown pass to Wade Betchart, the Cowboys pulled ahead for good. The Cowboys won the game 29-24. Hetrick was pulled after going 5/16 passing, but had no turnovers when he was pulled. Kicker Billy Vinnedge booted three field goals for the Cowboys, and was named MWC player of the week for special teams. Devin Moore ran for 90+ yards and had a score to help lead the Pokes as well.

This week the Cowboys will be on the road for the 29th meeting between the Pokes and San Diego State. The Aztecs are struggling through the season with a 2-5 record, and only one MWC win. The Cowboys, who have a tough time winning when they play in San Diego, will be looking to pick up their first win there in over a decade. The battle seems to be a home-team victory between the two squads. The Cowboys lead the all-time series vs. the Aztecs 15-13. The Aztecs are led by quarterback Kevin O'Connell who has thrown for 1580 yards and 7 TDs. The game will kick off 7pm Mountain time, and will be televised on The Mtn.
