BYU Rolls Cowboys, Border War on Deck WELCOME TO THE WAR, ELEVATION 7200 FEET The BYU Cougars marched into War Memorial Stadium and handed the Cowboys their 6th loss this season, in a 35-10 rout. The Cougars looked every bit as good as advertised as they dominated the Cowboys from start to finish. All of the cylinders were clicking for the Cougar offensive machine as quarterback Max Hall passed for 331 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Harvey Unga rushed for 110 yards with two touchdowns. The Wyoming offense struggled yet again this week, trying to find it's footing after a promising start to the season. The Cowboys managed just 277 yards of offense, mostly racked up by quarterback Karsten Sween, who threw for 217 yards and just one interception. Devin Moore and Wynel Seldon were pretty much held at bay in this game and figured to be non-factors. The Cowboy offense is now ranked near the botton in 1-A football in most major offensive categories, and the cries from Laramie are getting louder for coordinator Billy Cockhill to get the offense going and salvage this season. Which leads us to..... ...this weekend is the 99th annual Border War between Wyoming and Colorado State. The game will be played in Fort Collins. The Cowboys are looking to finish the season at .500 and prevent another losing season. The Colorado State Rams are fresh off of a win over 1-AA Georgia Southern, winning by a slim margin, 42-35. The Rams are in their final game with the legendary Sonny Lubick calling the plays, as he is retiring at the end of this season. The Rams are led by quarterback Caleb Hanie, who has thrown for 2210 yards and 16 scores. Hanie is regarded as one of the top QBs in the Mountain West Conference. The game will be played for the Bronze Boot, a tradition started in 1968 by Colorado State and Wyoming ROTC members. The Bronze Boot, which was worn by a Colorado State grad serving in Vietnam. Every year the travelling team carries the game ball from their home to the state border, then is carried the rest of the way by the opposing team. The Bronze Boot is a travelling trophy that has been in Wyoming's hands 20 of 39 years, including this year. The Pokes look to retain the trophy this year. The game will kickoff at 12:00 PM Mountain Time Zone.
