COWGIRLS AND COWBOYS BOTH WIN THIS WEEK, CHRISTMAS NEXT
WELCOME TO THE WAR, ELEVATION 7200 FEET

The Wyoming Cowboys put together a decent week this week. They competed in the Sun Bowl Classic this week in El Paso, TX.  They won their first game with a come from behind victory over the Buffalo Bulls, 66-63. Brad Jones and Brandon Ewing led the Cowboy scorers, and with Jones's three free throws at the end of the game, that was all for the Bulls. The next night the Cowboys took on the hosting UTEP Miners and were not as fortunate as the hometown boys ran away with the title game, 79-73. Brad Jones again led the Cowboys in scoring, but it wasn't enough to take home the tournament title. The Cowboys are off until after the break, but will be back in action December 29th in Laramie against Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a perennial in the Big Dance.

The Cowgirls were also in action this week as they continued their dominating ways by beating the Northern Colorado Bears 68-37. The Bears were overmatched from the beginning and the slaughter didn't stop until the final whistle. The Cowgirls were led by Hanna Zavecz en route to victory. The Cowgirls also defeated Westminster College handily, 73-35. The Griffins were no match for the ranked Cowgirls. A nice tuneup before the break. The Cowgirls will be back in action January 3 as they will take on San Francisco, in California.

The Wyoming Cowboy wrestlers competed this week in the Reno Tournament of Champions. The Cowboys finished 15th, with 24.5 points. They were led by Wright, Wyo native Eric Coxbill and Cole Dallaserra from Butte, America. Both Coxbill and Dallaserra were one round away from placing, and both had four wins on the day. Senior Kyle Morrow also had a stellar tournament with two wins on the day. The Cowboys will be in action in the Lone Star Duals in Texas, on January 5th.

In other Cowboy related news, the Cowboys have got a verbal agreement from one of their top prospects, Adam Berry from  California. The quarterback race figures to be wide open next year with Karsten Sween, Ian Hetrick, Chris Stutzreim, and now Barry. Rumors have been swirling about Hetrick's future with the Cowboys, but no one knows for sure what his plans are, but at last word, Hetrick will be a Cowboy next year. The coaches are opening the QB position up for everyone's grab, may the best man win. The Cowboys also got a verbal from a kicker last week, Ben Parks.

The Cowboy wrestlers also picked up some recruits this week as they picked up one of Wyoming's best wrestlers over the last three years, Casey Garnhart from Ten Sleep, Wyo. Garnhart is a three-time Wyoming state champion and was captain of his team, the Greybull Buffaloes. Also committing were Torrington, Wyo standout Jared Hatley,  Lee Helbg from Lansing, Michigan, and Eric Jones from Seattle.
