Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

In theory, but the correct answer to my question is nobody knows. The funding formula hasn't been worked out. Of the total 2.77 billion, 60% comes from revenue reduction. Of that, 60% is paid by 300 schools. That's probably around 500-800k/school? The alternative here is decline everything and the ...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

Basically the only Wyoming player who might be entitled to real money in damages for lost NIL revenues is Josh Allen. No one else-Hill, Wilson, Muma etc, would get much in the way of damages. Compare that to someone like Joe Burrow, Zion Williamson, Trevor Lawrence, Baker Mayfield etc. from P4 conf...

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

"The proposed settlement is for $2.7 billion in damages from 2016-present but the P5 to only cover 40% of that amount" That is exactly the point. The money is to repay past damages to players who were not able to receive NIL income. Currently P4 schools are paying significantly more for NI...

Re: Broncos Frank Crum

When I read about the $250 K signing bonus which is more than those who were drafted in the 6th and 7th rounds of the draft received, I figured he had a good chance of sticking with the team on the practice squad if not in a backup role.

Re: Off-season: collective bargaining

It is a terrible deal for the non-P4 conferences. They get hit with 60% of the damages even though realistically the vast majority of the damages are owed to players for the P4 conferences I am less than informed on how TV money gets currently split but I assume the vast majority of the TV/media rev...

laxwyo wrote: Thu May 23, 2024 1:44 pm Universities should be able to sue players for breach of contract now too, however it'd probably be a death sentence to the school. All the power is on one side now. The opposite of before. Need something in the middle
Not to mention being able to sue other teams for interference with contract

Looks like he had some good options. I wonder what his NIL deal offers were?

Re: NIL

Interesting article. Player is suing coach for failed NIL promises. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/other/former-florida-signee-jaden-rashada-sues-coach-billy-napier-and-others-over-failed-14m-nil-deal/ar-BB1mMXh6 Brilliant legal strategy. It will probably settle before discovery because the coach...

Re: How do you feel about the QB position

Just read an article about Rasada the QB who is suing Florida for more than $13.8 Million because they reneged on his NIL deal. According to the story Florida got him to decommit from Miami who had promised a $9 + Million deal. He is now at Georgia following a season at ASU. No doubt there were NIL ...

Re: Jordan Nesbitt - Do You Agree with the Signing?

I guess Wicks needs to field a team which at least looks competitive, but this was not a good signing

Re: 24-25 Roster

That and I’m also wondering if Linder didn’t line something up at Texas Tech for DeWeese. Linder’s timing can’t be overstated. He f***ed us so hard for next year. Retaining DeWeese probably would have allowed us to field a team next year but I don’t know how we get there now. I suspect we sign a co...

Re: 24-25 Roster

They are no longer student athletes. They are minor league professionals who just happen to be sponsored by a college. I wonder how long it will be before there are some schools specifically designated as farm clubs for a professional team. Heck it seems like half of the NFL Eagles defense is from ...

Re: How do you feel about the QB position

Something that might be getting overlooked is how Svboda was recruited. He was like 3rd string on a JUCO team. If he hits, that's some seriously good scouting or just damn lucky. Svoboda was set to attend UW as a preferred walk on out of high school. Then the pandemic hit and he decided to go to Sn...

Too late to transfer ? Or maybe his NIL deal would have to be repaid if he came to Wyoming?

This is stupid. At what point is "college" basketball going to directly compete with the NBA? It's just another professional league. Everything unique and beautiful about college athletics is being ruined. Osobor is currently making more than any 2nd round pick in the NBA draft this year ...

Re: UW Block Grant Budget Amendment

IDK, I appreciate the reconciliation that happened with the Black 14 and UW, and I think it's bad what happened to them and the story has sort of a happy ending, but I do get tired of hearing how racist I am all the time just for being a white male that resides in Wyoming. It's been beaten to death...
