Re: Hunter Thompson
Wyoming kids are more likely to have a longer memory than kids who probably watch and listen to other schools while in elementary. That said, Creighton was a Missouri Valley school just a couple years ago. Even with the better basketball history, they are still in the shadow of Nebraska-Lincoln and...

Re: We've got a Mountain to climb!
NO poop!!!!! You mean Dalton, Barns, Aka Gorski and the likes are not what the rest of these tourney teams are loaded with???? Who woulda guessed..... LOL of course I kid!!! We do have a long way to go, some of us have been saying this for some time now. We have the staff (maybe), we DON'T have the...

Re: Hunter Thompson
I've never met a Wyo. alum. who didn't love their time at the school. That said, who stays in Laramie after they graduate? Omaha has nearly 3/4 of a million people and a lot fortune 500 companies located there. A lot of factors go into choosing a school. The basketball may have been a small factor ...

Re: Hunter Thompson
Geez sour grapes much?...just because a kid goes to high school here means he has to play here? If Thompson was from anywhere else wyo has exactly ZERO shot at signing him. We need to take a long look in the mirror and honestly assess where we are in the college basketball landscape as it pertains ...

Re: Bball gurus, are we in trouble?
This conversation has turned more towards personnel (which is fine) and away from the initial question....The rules changes on the surface do seem to be geared toward teams that have players with an NBA skill set. My thoughts on the shot clock change is that if a good defensive team can keep you fr...

Re: What do we do to make sure that doesn't happen again?
Always fun to discuss past great WYO teams and compare. As noted by most, there is really no contest overall in comparing the 01-02 team (I have seen some mention 00-01, but 01-02 was the better team) to the 14-15 team. Anything could happen in one game, but the 01-02 team would win a 7 game series...

Re: What do we do to make sure that doesn't happen again?
My whole intent in bringing up the comparison to the 02 team is to highlight where we are talent-wise compared to the heights that have been achieved in the past. That team was loaded...McClain deserves a lot of credit for the guys he got in there and the ego's he had to mesh but you did not need t...

Re: What do we do to make sure that doesn't happen again?
Does anybody remember the tail end of the McClain/Schroyer years?? That is what cruddy coaching is. If Shyatt ultimately flames out it will be because he consistently could not recruit very well....something that all Wyo coaches struggle with. Look at the lineup that we are rolling out there night i...

Re: UW @ Boise St
Would have had to play a lot better than wyo did today to get the W. BSU played a better game than they have been playing ... not lights out but pretty good. I hate blaming refs and they are not the reason we lost but it looked like they were hell-bent on not screwing BSU a second time. Bottom line....

Re: Statement from Larry Shyatt on athletics match
Thats a tough one...If it was up to me and maybe to the folks that post on this board the money would go up not down. I've been in Wyo long enough to know that funding for UW athletics can be very up and down and it is hard to justify (despite it making sense if it leads to success) spending money o...

Re: @ Fresno St.
Definitely need more contributions from somebody not named Adams....This team struggles to make "winning plays". We have played two games in a row now where in the free-flowing minutes of the first half and early second half players are in rhythm and comfortably hitting shots and moving. A...

Re: Rebounding philosophy
I didn't hear the comments so i'm not totally sure what Shyatt reffered to but here is my take on rebounding. Certain stats are meaningless without context....take the sack stat in football. A player that played 20 years ago that got much fewer sacks in contests where opposing QB's hardly ever threw...

Re: WYOMING v. NEVADA
I thought the the '13/'14 pokes team had a small margin for error...this team has a razor thin margin. As far as attendance is concerned...not much you can do but keep chopping wood...Wyo has had a good home court advantage over the years. I doubt that will go away soon....win a lot at home and the ...

Re: WYO vs. LOBOS
How much of the Shyatt criticism comes from folks yearning for the early McClain years? Those were fun to watch but they hinged on having arguably some of the most talent, top to bottom, that has suited up for the brown and gold. Once the Davis, Bailey, Richardson, Unsonwu-Amadi, train left we were ...

Re: Wyoming vs Houston Thread
No doubt they will improve. If Wyo had limited the opponent to one opportunity each possession in the last 5 minutes of the last few games we aren't having this discussion. I didn't follow the marshal game but the Houston game we seemed to defend ok and then give up another offensive rebound....I th...

Re: Wyoming vs Houston Thread
I think it seems like, other than these two games, Mac (or whoever else might fill the #2 guy role) is the real key. We know Josh will be at a high level but he can't win without help. That said, both of these losses, Jason had good games and we still lost so maybe that's not a totally fair thing t...
