Re: Roll Call For Veterans

I did 3 years in the 80's "peacetime" Army. Never in harms way, but I did do all of the usual stuff - Basic training, etc. My utmost respect for all combat vets. All in all, a very interesting (and transformative) experience. Met a lot of good people (and a lot of idiots, too). Looking bac...

Re: Official I hate 2020 thread

A good friend of mine, Chaz Bufe, wrote/edited a modern update to Ambrose Bierce's "The Devil's Dictionaries" where he gives the definition of HELL, n. A place of eternal torment, much like the United States during an election year. 'Nuff said.

Re: COVID-19 - v2

My only real problem with Trump (I'll admit I voted for him - I hate Hillary with a BYU hatred passion) is him being on twitter! He needed to be banned off of that platform. I'll only vote for Trump in November because Biden just creeps me out!!!! ...We are talking about the guy in the White House,...

Re: 2020 Season Thoughts?

For all the reasons above, I can’t imagine how they’ll be able to have a season until a vaccine comes out. I’m guessing that means football will be 2021. Or would they consider spring football if we had a vaccine by winter?! Interesting possibility. Spring football? Growing up in Laramie and going ...

Re: COVID-19

OK, last one, I promise. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but I'm only putting this information out there so you can ask your state regulators about it. Here it is broken out nicely: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6915e3.htm#T1_down Rates of hospitalization for age 18-49 = 2.5/100,000 Of ...

Re: COVID-19

Here's some math: Ballpark of 70% of the population is 54 and under = roughly 230 million people. According to the CDC, age 49 and under have a .01% hospitalization rate 10/100,000. Also according to the CDC, 10% of adults who are hospitalized have no known prior health conditions. 230 million peop...

Re: COVID-19

I do think slowly opening things up but being careful will make sense in a couple of weeks or so. As much as I miss hanging out with my colleagues in person, I don't mind working from home for the next couple of months as I _can_ do that. Many people don't have that luxury, but if those of us who c...

Re: COVID-19

Quarantine and social distancing are not the way out of this. Quarantine and social distancing won't change number of deaths, just date of death. Quarantine and social distancing were/are necessary to allow time to evaluate the enemy and prepare medical industry appropriately. Once that is done, we...

.... and then there's this. Please tell me again how the numbers are accurate. https://i.imgur.com/8B6ZMJP.png My brother in law tested negative, but was sicker than a dog for several weeks. All of the symptoms. He's now recovered but obviously will not be counted in the statistics. The tests just ...

Re: CST article on the politics of the athletics match

Thank you. Sounds like my little rant had a bit of resonance. If anyone knows how, please feel free to forward what I had to say to any legislator/govt. official/univ. administrator who might actually listen.

Re: CST article on the politics of the athletics match

As a long-time follower (but not member) of these message boards, I finally decided to join to add my 2 cents to this discussion. I was born/raised in Wyoming and am a proud graduate of UW, where I got a heck of an education. Like many others, lack of career opportunities in my field led me elsewher...
