Re: UW Block Grant Budget Amendment
You think we should also have the legislature review the syllabi of each professor? It seems regardless as to what you title a class, the professor might deviate from what the legislature believes they ought to teach. I mean, we ought to ensure that our highly impressionable adult college students ...

He also thinks this is a bad idea, does he not. I have no idea what his degree is in, maybe it was some kind of liberal arts degree due all I know. I can tell you, with my science degree, I didn’t have to take any of these kind of classes. Lots of math, science, and history for me. Little bit of an...

I can agree with this wholeheartedly.ragtimejoe1 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 27, 2024 12:37 pm I'd say the optics of more than coincidental nepotism leading to, well, you know, poses much greater risk to UW's image if mainstream ever picked up on it.

Re: UW Block Grant Budget Amendment
I expect those working at UW and those with certain political ideologies will be raising hell about this. At the end of the day it'll primarily be a big taboo to a vocal minority on both sides with no significant impacts to UW. Why do you need a certain ‘political ideology’ to be against the legisl...

Re: UW Block Grant Budget Amendment
My bigger concern is the impact on recruiting faculty. It's Women's Studies today. It might be Geology, Chemistry, Biology or Atmospheric Science tomorrow if they deign to study anything that might touch on climate change. It might be the law school - as it was when I was in Law School - if a profe...

Re: Boyzee
I believe our senior laden team could possibly end the conference season on a 2 game winning streak before losing its first game in the MWCT. Just makes you wonder, or at least me wonder, every time I read something like this, how did #22 USU not return a point from 2023, and here they are at 10-4 ...

Re: UW Block Grant Budget Amendment
I can’t see how the legislature directly limiting the courses and degrees available for students as helping enrollment. For those students (perhaps unwisely) desiring to study and/or earn a degree in Women’s Studies, clearly Wyoming is no longer a viable option. How many students is that? 5? 10? No...

Re: Boyzee
We have now lost 6 Mountain West games by more than 15 points. That is the same number we had in Edwards' and Schroyer's final seasons. Shyatt had 1 in his final season and McClain had 3. This is why I have little hope for the future. When you are in the same rarified air as Edwards and Schroyer, y...

Hmmm, remind me where I said anything about spaghetti or kitchen utensils. Some folks believe that the spaghetti apocalypse is real and it is happening. You may disagree with them but they are entitled to this belief are they not? Should the legislature pass laws to save us from the upcoming spaghe...

Re: Boyzee
I think Linder has one year. If he doesn’t fix it next year, you have to let him go. You can’t let apathy fully take hold or you lose the program for a long time. (It is already really bad.) Last year was a huge mess - lots of causes but the results were indicative of a train wreck. The fix this yea...

Re: Boyzee
Defense is mostly about effort and want to. You have to want to play defense. You have to fight to play defense. Our effort, and others will no doubt continue to disagree, is lacking. Maybe the loss of our swimmers was as big an issue as Foster indicated in the post game. I can’t be so calloused to ...

Re: Playoff negotiations
the sec and big 10 need to take the top teams from the ACC and Big 12 and go do their own thing. there's already a split in the FBS, just make it official and let us get back to the actual college football and they can have the nfl minor league I agree. I wonder why they haven't done it already? It...

Re: Linder got tossed.
Oh, I agree, I'm just suggesting that even mediocrity could save Linder long-term...if he could somehow get there. It isn't like the Cowboy faithful demand championships - we just want an enjoyable trip to Vegas or somewhere else warm, a win or two in the MW Tourney or every other bowl game, and so...

Re: UW Block Grant Budget Anendment
The senate has now apparently voted to defund Women's and Gender Studies programs. Not that I particularly understand how that degree leads to employment (and wouldn't recommend it) but you might as well cross off Wyoming as a State that says it supports freedom of speech and thought, and, for a St...

Re: Linder got tossed.
Valid points. Truth is, we don't have an alternative. We are stuck. It is also true that Linder built UNC. But he did it at a time before NIL and the portal. Those two variables - I would suggest - would have gutted him at UNC. But I hate post hoc, flawed logic, so I will leave it at that. I will b...

UW Block Grant Budget Amendment
From a distance, it looks as though the Wyoming legislature is poised to do away with the notion of a block grant for the university. This would mean that, in future budget cycles, the university would have to present its budget like any other agency, and be subject to line item approvals by the leg...

Re: Linder got tossed.
Whether the players were deflated is a subjective call. I can't prove it either way. Neither can you. The reality is that Jeff wasn't on the bench (again) and clearly has irritated the officials to the point that they are willing to toss him at the drop of a hat. Fair or not, they have had enough o...
