How is the team chosen to host the MW championship?
I thought I read/heard the MW championship host was chosen strictly on ranking, not head-to-head, conference record or anything else. Is that correct?
Even if we win next week, I could see SDSU still staying ranked ahead of us with only 2 losses to our 3 and get to host if it is on ranking even though we have the head-to-head
How do they select MW championship host?
that's correct......we need North Tijuana State to lose next week if we want to host
disclaimer: I could be wrong. I've done it before...I'll probably do it again.

Well, we just knocked them off their high horse (some of them really needed it), and will go back up ourselves.roozy wrote:Highest ranked team hosts
Plus, we play UNM. If we beat them, it should give us another bump up.

What is the difference between politicians and stoners? Politicians don't inhale...they just suck.

I honestly only care about one thing at this point: winning in Albuquerque.
We started talking about the Championship game after the win two weeks ago, and then we lay a huge freaking egg on the road to a much worse team than Lobos. Apodaca can definitely burn us hard, and we just lost Appleby.

The division champion with the higher College Football Playoff ranking going into final week of regular season is designated as the host school unless it loses its final regular season game. If the latter occurs, or neither team is ranked in the latest available College Football Playoff rankings, then the following procedure is used:[2]
Team with better composite ranking among selected computer rankings
Head-to-head record
Record versus common conference opponents
Winning percentage against the next-highest placed common conference opponent and proceeding through the conference, with placing based on:
Placement within the division
Overall conference record
Composite of selected computer rankings
Coin toss

So 3 possible sites- Boise, San Diego, or Laramie.
Wyoming beats both of those teams and has the best conference record and prob the smallest chance of hosting?

The loss to EMU and UNLV are really biting us in the ass. EMU could easily have been different, if Vigen had opened up the playbook for that game. And for UNLV, we just needed one more stop. Or to go for two at the end of regulation or overtime.Coeur d' Alene wrote:So 3 possible sites- Boise, San Diego, or Laramie.

Me too it was just a general question out of curiosity since we are 1 game away now, and I live far enough away that I would have to fly to either destination, so was just trying to understand how it was chosen so I could see what travel arrangements I might need to make in a week.
Cue the "only focus on the next game" comments as well, but luckily I don't play on the team, so probably ok if I consider travel arrangements even if the team is not

To be sure. And with Appleby done for the remainder of the season, along with Granderson, that opens two very big holes up front that the backups need to try and fill in.laxwyo wrote:I'm more scared of the UNM game than I am about where the championship game will be held
