Is it just me, or is there a larger number of walk-ons this year than normal? Or was it just not as common to announce it in the past?

With the twitter effect, everything is an announcement. Some of these are PWO’s, which means part of the team no scholarship, some are walk on tryout guys, no guarantee of spot or future scholarship.

If you read closely the wording on the announcement some of these guys write it in a way to skirt along trying to make it seem like they are on scholarship.

This is a good point, and I have indeed noticed that part.

Kind of surprised that Haize decided to play football. Kid is one hell of a basketball player.

Agreed. Thought he probably had offers for junior college or D2 for basketball.

He had a PWO for basketball in Laramie, too. Picked football.

2015: TCU (redshirt)
Two years at Cisco College in TX

So he should be immediately eligible and have two years here. Doesn't hurt to bring in a guy with NFL genes. Father and uncle both played WR in the NFL.

Summary:

Although the Cowboy’s class (and really any team’s class) can’t fully be evaluated at this point, it’s safe to say Bohl and his coaches were able to do it again. They added some intriguing skills players on offense, including their templates for the QB and RB positions, as well as some weapons at WR and TE who have skill sets the Cowboys may have not had before. Overall, it’s a very balanced class, with every position checked off the list and a good number of both athletes in addition to players with lots of football skills. Although this class is ranked 10th in the MWCConnection Team Rankings, they are in many ways closer to 8th than they are 11th.

I bet our recruiting would improve a lot if we did it Alabama-style

At first I was going to be snarky and say something to the effect of "You mean pay our recruits thousands of dollars"...and then I checked out that link...yeah, that says it all. f-word Alabama (and the SEC in general).

Supposedly this guy visited for the Air Force game:

He's "just" a 2-star DE, but at least seems to do well in school!
