I would guess that along with the money came the promise of having the name put on a wall somewhere or to name an office, room, etc. Not good PR to have the "Convicted the deed Offender" Assistant Football Coach's office.
I believe it was going to be the "Cercy Family Weight Room". NCHS had to do the same.
