While Dusell looks like a good pick up for us, not for sure why Linder would be going after Avanzo. At 6’8” and 205, feels like a smaller version of Hunter Thompson. We need a couple of bigs to transfer in if we have any shot of competing next year. Hopefully we can find at least one, maybe two, in the portal.

You have to keep in mind a couple of items:

1. We have (6) scholarships to fill now and it could be as high as (8) before it is said and done. Plenty of room for the D2 transfer and another big.

2. You should listen to some of Linder’s interviews. He wants shooters at all positions and he is very willing to play small. We still need bigs but don’t be surprised if signs a couple more perimeter shooters also.

AGREED! But does Coach Linder know how to use them? Remember how Jordan Naughton went from phenom to pine time when we transitioned from Shyatt to Edwards?

It looks to me like Linder is recruiting just like he said he would: he doesn't recruit guys that can't shoot.

Avanzo shoots a very good percentage for a 6'8" guy. Hunter cant be on the floor the entire time. We need more bigs that can shoot. Nick Duncan(the donut man) was one of the least athletic big guys in MWC history but you couldn't leave him open. Duncan played for Linder in Boise.

Someone should have told Edwards that if you're going to run an offense based on shooting threes you might want to recruit some guys that can make threes. He might still have a job.

You can win in Linder’s style without traditional big man. Think of the Joseph Taylor type, or can’t remember his 1st name but last name Brown. Brown was chubby and could rebound and shoot but wasn’t over 6’6. We are in for some good years I think with Linder.
