Pick your squads. Who beats who
80/90's:
Dent/ladrell whitehead
Greg sawyer
Dembo
Leckner
Theo/HL Coleman
Help me out my memory is limited.
00/10's:
Josh Adams/donta Richardson/Mcfall
JJ
Marcus Bailey
Josh Davis
LNJ/his dunk partner
I just like watching a some of them.
Who are the teams of those decades?

You forgot Reginald Slater...there are probably others that deserve mentioning but Slater is top 5 all time poke. As to the original question...i give the nod to the '80's and '90's. Maybe that is just nostalgia but those guys just loom large in my memory.

Even with that lineup he would manage to only win 4 games.

It's not even close. The best team was the 81 team with Bill Garnett (4 pick in the draft), Tub Bradley (a first round pick) and Mike Jackson. Kenneth Ollie was a big contributor. The 1982 team almost beat a Georgetown team with Patrick Ewing that ended up in the finals.
The Leckner - Dembo team made the finals of the NIT and then a sweet 16 the next year. Had Brandenburg stayed, their senior season may have been even better. But the downfall of the program started with the hiring of Benny Dees.

Teams since '96 don't even hold a candle to the teams of the 80's and 90's. Brandenburg was reloading on talent, right up until he had a breakdown and bailed on his players...bladerunnr wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 10:50 am It's not even close. Yeahp. He's def the starting PF.
Dembo/slater/Theo frontcourt. Leckner off the bench.
Somebody mentioned jeron Roberts. I liked him a lot. Def on my squad.
Joby coaches both teams

Uh , no. Leckner during college was a better player than both Theo and Slater. Not really that close in my opinion. Leckner would be the starting center.Coeur d' Alene wrote: ↑Wed Jan 23, 2019 11:30 pmYeahp. He's def the starting PF.

And the 80's guys played on top 20 basketball teams. Where as the guys from 2000/10 never did. You had one team make an NCAA tournament while the guys in the 80's made 4 of them if I recall right. I actually don't think many of the 90's players would make the team if it were a combined 80's/90's team. Infact Slater and Theo might be about the only 2 on it. Everyone else would be from the 80's.

My team might not be able to stop anyone, but I would also like to see any of those previous teams defend my 00/10 team consisting of:
Brad Jones
Brandon Ewing
Afam Moujeke
Leonard Washington
Uche
I will also take Sean Ogirri coming off the bench as my sixth man to rain 3’s all day long!

I love Reggie but it’s hard for me to consider him a top 5 all time Poke. I don’t even know if he cracks the top 10.
I would put Sailors, Dembo, Bailey, Flynn, Garnett, Leckner, Nance, Adams, and maybe Tubb up before Slater. That’s 9, and then maybe you get to Reggie. Reggie’s teams unfortunately never won any titles which holds him back.307bball wrote: ↑Mon Jan 28, 2019 4:48 pmI assume we are talking bball only.....as far as all time goes...Reggie not top 10??...I'll concede he might be six.
This is all irrespective of any pro careers.

I would never argue against Sailors, Dembo, Bailey, and Leckner. I put Garnett, Slater and Flynn at the next level. I love Nance and Adams, but I'd take slater to the bank over them all day. Nothing against those two...Slater was just a force. Nance and Adams as seniors were great...Slater was great from soph to senior.calpoke25 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 29, 2019 1:05 pmI would put Sailors, Dembo, Bailey, Flynn, Garnett, Leckner, Nance, Adams, and maybe Tubb up before Slater. *sigh* I miss good Wyoming Basketball...had flashes of it with the Bailey/Davis years and then the Nance/Adams combo..Thats all gone now
