Any good non-fiction books you guys can recommend relative to the Westward Expansion and by that I mean first hand accounts by settlers heading out west and the hardships they endured. Plus, good books about real characters of the west like Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickok, Doc Holiday and famous gunslingers.
With winter setting in, I thought this might be a good time to do some reading.

Try “The Life and Adventures of James P Beckwourth”. Very interesting but since it’s his own story it could be a mix of fiction and non-fiction.
