I predict it is either New Mexico Bowl or First Responder Bowl.

We won't know anything for sure until next Sunday (a week from tomorrow), but I think the New Mexico Bowl is most likely.

Just for the record, the BCS started in 1998 around the time of MWC formation (1999). This is probably the most reasonable estimate/benchmark of modern era CFB, though I bet we look back at the NIL/portal years as another milestone.
Since that time, here are our "non-crap or non-Bohl" bowls:
2004 Las Vegas, Joe Glenn
2009 New Mexico, DC
2011 New Mexico, DC
1998 to 2022 is 24 years for those bad at math. Nearly a quarter of a century; time for 6 presidents. I'd consider the Las Vegas bowl the only "non-crap" bowl and we got the bid because Utah went to the Fiesta. The Copper/Holiday Bowl days are gone and will never be back. Essentially ALL realistic AVAILABLE bowls to us are "crap" bowls regardless of coach and/or record (obviously auto-bid and MWC championship withstanding).
Past is precedent and be careful what you wish for.

Bowls just don’t mean what they used to when finishing 6-6 gets you eligible.
Yes, the extra practice is great. But the MWC tie ins are terrible and that’s not Wyoming’s fault.
Do I want them to play in a bowl game or not? Sure.
Like someone either on here or on twitter said, playing a 6 or 7 win “MAC team that doesn’t want to be there” just isn’t intriguing to me.
Part of that is the product of another 6 or 7 win season for us that, while it is better than most of the previous 3 coaching eras, we would all like to have something more to play for at the end of the season (conference title game).

Bsu is an anomaly. I honestly don't think that will be replicated again and may not be sustainable for them. We'll see. Other than that and 1 time usu, all other champs have been from CA. I don't think that is coincidental.cowpoke pride wrote: ↑Sun Nov 27, 2022 8:14 am Part of that is the product of another 6 or 7 win season for us that, while it is better than most of the previous 3 coaching eras, we would all like to have something more to play for at the end of the season (conference title game).
Everyone wants championships. It's terribly frustrating knowing we are an offense away. Still, an offense away might be a better position than a program away.
A team that hasn't been to a bowl game in a decade makes a bowl and ther team, their fans, etc. are all excited. Might be a "crap" bowl against uninspired team but they are excited. The bowl isn't better and the opponent isn't better. The difference? Mindset.
Maybe one of the things lacking at WYO is lack of enthusiasm by us fans. You can point at coaches, records, or whatever, but what have we done as fans to help build a special culture? Maybe we can do more?

From past friends/players, the post-Christmas bowl games are not preferred. These guys wants to go home for Christmas.
That said, CFN projection today has us in Texas Dec 27 vs Kansas.

There’s likely going to be an unusual wait before bowl game matchups are leaked. This is because 5-7 UNLV goes to a bowl game due to their APR if either NMSU loses next week or fails to get a waiver for playing 2 FCS squads or if Buffalo loses next week to Akron in a rescheduled games.
I’m predicting a Buffalo loss to an improving Akron team resulting in Wyoming in the First Responder Bowlon December 27 in Dallas.

I hate to say it but given the way we finished I question whether Wyoming deserves a bid. That being said if they do go I hope it is to one where they have not gone before. Boca Raton sounds real nice.

We are 100% guaranteed a bowl game. There are not enough bowl eligible teams. There is no "if" but the question is "where".
