I really think they have done a pretty good job of building back up the roster. I like the three freshman a lot. Just from looking at highlights, I think Combs is the most ready to contribute. I think Cameron can provide some defense and rebounding, but seems really raw on offense. I like the juco point guard and hope the lower level guys can adjust quickly because they are only here a year. It will definitely be interesting to see how Linder will handle the rotation.

Looking at his ESPN stats page, it appears that his playing time took a pretty major hit this year. Looks like he was a starter that got supplanted and is looking for a place he'll play more.OrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Mon May 01, 2023 1:51 pmI look at lists like that and it makes me wonder a couple things:
1) Are these really the schools we are competing with for talent?
2) Why is he leaving James Madison for these?

I'd imagine that if we knew what we had already, we might consider holding one or 2 but since this might be more of a shotgun approach, using all the schollies is wiser for the numbers game. Maybe we'll hit on a few. Can't take the chance, one of the last two could be major contributors.

I take it we are not signing anyone else for next year?

I would expect that we will still sign at least 1 and maybe 2 more players. Staff is still recruiting 2023 players along with 2024.LanderPoke wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 11:13 am I take it we are not signing anyone else for next year?

That really doesn’t matter for two reasons:WYO1016 wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 1:19 pmToday is the last day players can sign for the 23-24 season.NowherePoke wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 12:54 pm

1. The signing period does not apply to NCAA transfers (one thing that does apply is the portal window which has closed, so the only new transfers into the portal now will be grad transfers, but there are still many uncommitted prospects).
2. Even though a HS kid can’t sign a NLI at this point, they can still commit and enroll and receive a scholarship, there just isn’t a binding NLI in place. That’s less important that it used to be because in practice schools will let players out of their LOI anytime due to the risk of bad publicity if they don’t (just like there was no pushback from us when Makaih Williams asked out of his NLI).

Pokes add Jacob Theodosiou, a Canadian PG to their 2023 class.
Interesting prospect with lots of high level interest last summer (Dayton, VCU, etc.), who missed this past season with a shoulder injury.
Doesn’t turn 18 until after school starts, so will be the second player on our team (Manyawu) who will be 17 when school starts. We have to lead the country in that stat.

I saw some videos of Theodosiou. Looks to be a solid playmaker at point. If he plays well, I have a hard time seeing him stay long. He basically stated he just is coming for playing time.
