Jore got 2nd. He lost to a stud. Great tourney for him.

Someone named Cole Brooks got fourth. He'll be coming to wrestle at UW next year. Awesome!

It's a bit of a bummer he can't defend his world championship.
It does suck. Really tough there was another wrestler of that caliber in his weight and division.

I can't imagine it is often we see two age division freestyle world champs square off at a United States national tournament. David Taylor v. Jordan Burroughs is the only one that comes to mind at the senior level.

Looks like we got another transfer (Utah Valley) 4-time Utah state champ. (133) Building some really good depth, it is going to be a real battle to get into the lineup at most weights next year. I was in Vegas a couple of weeks ago at the U-20 and U-17 tournament watching Jory and the other UW wrestlers, the future IMO looks bright. Jory will still have a chance to make the national team and defend his world championship, in June in Ohio he will have to win the bracket and then beat the kid who he lost to in a best of three. (The same situation as last year, he had to beat the champ from Vegas twice to make the team.) I think he can do it with a little adjustment to his positioning. (He fell behind 5-0 on step-outs) I was also impressed with Logan Ours (157) RF who went 5-2 and missed the podium by one match. Two incoming recruits had really good tournaments as well, as mentioned above Cole Brooks from Oklahoma will be a freshman next year, (141) 3-time state champ, who finished 4th in the U-20 division. He beat a 4-time state champ from Colorado who goes to Cornell and was the number 1 seed. (Stud) Cole is listed as a top 50 recruit. The other high school kid is from Minnesota and will be a senior next year, 2-time state champ who finished 5th in the U-17 tournament. (Top 75 recruit in class of 24) The good news is that these two are not even the highest rated recruits we have coming in. (197 from Minnesota Joey Novak is an animal on the mat) Really looking forward to next year! Go pokes.

Good day for two future cowboys in Fargo today. Joey Novak (197) could be the starter next year as a true freshman, will wrestle the number one guy in country (Penn State) tomorrow morning to advance to the finals. ( they wrestled back in December, folk style and Novak lost 4-2, it will be interesting to see how they do in free-style.) Also Tyson Charmoli (141, 2024 commit) lost to number 2 guy in quarterfinal, 3-2. Future is bright, good recruits coming, and great hire in D Shrouder. Lower weights will really benefit from having him in the room.

The Wyoming HS boys didn't fare too well except Liam Fox from East who is still the tournament. I thought Avila from Thunder Basin would have done better, but he went 1-2. Thought Provost from Campbell County would have fared better, too.
