How long should an AD be an AD (especially at UW) - is it all about results, forward thinking & planning, growth, ???? Year 17 for Tom is upon us...I was going to throw CJC in there as well, but we all know they suck balls, so what would be the point?!?!

I vote good. It matches but not exceeds our fan/alumni enthusiasm as well as the university as a whole.

What is difference between fair and mediocre? I would rate poor just on the Heath Schroyer hire and then extension. No AD should have survived that.

The greatest AD we've ever had? Has to be Paul Roach.

I still stand by the opinion that Burman has done an acceptable to good job as AD.

Fans like to go off the rails about perceived wrongs, and the AD is an easy target for everything that doesn't go the way we want it to...but there's a lot more to being an AD than meets the eye, and a lot of things that aren't necessarily in his hands (or aren't completely within his control).

He's made some mistakes, he's had some gambles that didn't pay off, and he's had some relative home runs as well.

There's always room for improvement, but I think if you consider a lot of the sh** he's had to deal with and navigate through, and the difficulties of being an AD in Laramie, Wyoming in the modern era, UW Athletics is in a pretty decent spot overall and has come through some difficult transitions relatively cleanly.

So I'd say somewhere between "meh" and "good", leaning towards good.

Within the context of the 21st century, Bohl and Linder are good hires. And some of the Oly sports have been really successful. It's a meh for me because I don't believe Burman has done nearly enough to navigate all the change in college sports recently.

he's objectively very bad if you look at the Directors Cup standings for the past however long he's been in control of the department

240th in 22-23 academic year
125th in 21-22
118th in 20-21
151st in 18-19 (no standings in 19-20 due to COVID)
116th in 17-18
124th in 16-17
192nd in 15-16
176th in 14-15

he'd be fired from a Big Sky or OVC school with this body of work. And frankly the job the AD at Northern Arizona has done makes Burman look like a total buffoon

Good question, of course could be taken numerous ways.

My thought: Mediocre / meh is just that - not good, not fair, but doing just enough (you know, doing less with less) to keep his employers on the fence...he makes mistakes, but has made some good calls as well - consistently and constantly. Fair, in my estimation, was "makes quite a few mistakes, but isn't banging the cheerleader under the bleachers - yet).

Directors cup has a lot to do with how many sports a university competes in. We don't have many compared to others.
