I had to chuckle a bit here. First, Burman put out there on social media that we all need to donate to our NIL collectives (if we like winning), now the brain thrust in CJC is soliciting for this. My fun bags are dry...what is next?

"Wyoming Nation,

How's your oxygen after last weekend?

The resilience, grit, and determination of our student-athletes was on full display Sept. 2 as our Cowboy football team defeated #24 Texas Tech, 35-33 in 2OT!

You packed the parking lots. You rocked The War. You showed the nation what it means to play at 7,220. And YOU make night's like Saturday possible.

Our players rose to the challenge to beat the Red Raiders. Now, we need you to do the same so we can continue to invest in the incredible athletes who represent us, our university, and our state!

To celebrate our incredible win, the Cowboy Joe Club is offering all Wyoming fans a chance to secure their piece of history. With your gift of $35.33, you'll receive an exclusive commemorative game ticket from our win over Texas Tech. These tickets will not be available for purchase elsewhere, and will forever symbolize the historic night we had in Laramie!

In addition to your commemorative ticket, each individual who contributes $35.33 will also be entered into a drawing to win one of the following items:

1) Game ball from Wyoming's 35-33 win over Texas Tech, signed by Head Coach Craig Bohl (Two will be awarded).
2) Wyoming-Texas Tech game poster, signed by select coaches and players (15 will be awarded).

The Cowboy Joe Club is proud to support student-athlete scholarships and other critical resources that allow our student-athletes to compete at the highest level. We can't thank you enough for all that you do to make Wyoming the most special place in nation!

Help us continue to invest in our student-athletes who make us so proud to wear the Brown and Gold!

Thank you, and GO POKES!"

CJC is incredibly lame.

To me, the real driver of potential donations to the Club for the next month is Paul Roach. He was Wyoming athletics and he was CJC. If they were smart - they would immediately work with the Roach family to create a Roach Fund that could be an endowment to move a walk-on to a schollie player every year, or to rename the new West Stand Renovation boxes after Paul and in honor of his family; or a fund for a statue; or some funding for the recruiting coordinator...

A commemorative ticket? Lame.

I still have my ticket in my apple wallet. I don't need a fake ticket.

Whoever thought of this lame fundraiser should be canned.

Come on - give CJC credit for doing something. Honestly, the game posters are pretty cool if you haven't seen them! Really great throwback artwork. I'd pay $100 for one signed by Peasley, Gyllenborg, Hoyland, Crum, Scott, Bertagnole, Suiaunoa, Gibbs, etc...to commemorate the game.

But I do agree with LawPoke - - CJC needs to do something around Paul Roach. Isn't he the reason that we have a CJC?

That idea is thinking (something CJC kind of lacks a bit - especially the dynamic leader). I especially like the idea to create a fund of sorts, honoring him! :thumb:

A commemorative ticket for $35.33...are we that small-time that we need to commemorate this win? And yes, it was a great win, but I can think of a few in my lifetime that would be much better to commemorate than this one. Hell, beat Texas in 2 weeks, then sell away!

I do agree with you on the poster, but why was Pistol on the bottom, under the Red-Doucher? And smaller? Again, are we that small time?

And yes - autographed anything sells...

I am struggling to think of a more exciting win than that since I've been following the team back to the mid 1990s. The ones that come to mind as in the conversation are: 2016 3OT game against Northern Illinois; 1996 November game against CSU; 2016 'safety dance' game against Boise State; UCLA bowl game win in 2004; 2017 snow game win over CSU; 2009 goal line stand against Fresno State in the New Mexico bowl.

In fact - if you ask me, the Texas Tech game was the best game of all of those because we came into the game as -14 dogs and overcame an early 17 point deficit against a ranked Power 5 opponent (Texas Tech was #24 in the coaches poll going into the game).

Ah, I get it. Thought you maybe were a longer-term (since the 70's) WYO fan, my bad. I have my favorites as well - from your timeframe (below)...although I had to look up some of the scores / dates. And wow was that depressing to see how many losses we pulled from the jaws of victory, and how many ass kickings we have experienced as fans.

vs. #22 AFA 10/26/02 34 - 26 (yes, Vic's only bright spot)
vs. bWHYu 10/18/03 13-10
vs. Ole Miss 9/25/04 37 - 32
LV Bowl vs. UCLA 12/23/04 24 - 21
@ Ole Miss 9/24/05 24-14
vs. Virginia 9/01/07 23 - 3
@ Tennessee 11/08/08 13 - 7

vs. #24 SDSU 11/19/16 34 - 33

Are any "commemorative ticket" worthy? Not IMO. Still waiting on that one.

That game was a blast, remember most of it!

The heartbreaking losses stick pretty hard during the 80's as well - @ Georgia, Holiday Bowl vs. Iowa, @ Knebraska, Etc....

This is a bit weird. I guess beating a P5 is big news but its not like we have a losing record against them. 2-0 in Laramie and 4-2 in the series.

Both those BYU wins in 1987 and 88 were great. One of the greatest wins for me was down in Colorado Springs September 24, 1988.

Wyoming 48-45 over Air Force. Huge 4th qtr comeback. The whole game was good. I was lucky enough to be down there to see it in person. Paul Roaches 2nd year at the helm and we would go on to win the WAC undefeated in conference for the 2nd year in a row.

I would put that above Texas Tech and many others as well from my time following the Cowboys. Great win last week though.

That's a great hit list of games... Was at a lot of those! The one that I just never got excited about was the Tennessee game. It's not nothing to beat an SEC team but that years Tennessee team was pretty pedestrian.

I just did the most recent history - 2000's. I have many favorites from the 70's, 80's and 90's - but those above (I attended them all) were great wins. I would certainly add in the Tech game this year, but frankly, the last 4 years have been without any real impressive wins.

The Tennessee game was a blast, to go into Neyland (Glenn was fired 2 weeks later) with a mediocre team ourselves and pull out a win, was spectacular.

I see...yes, that would have been a blast to attend.

I am looking at it a bit differently I guess. For me...when I look back, what are the most impressive victories?....sadly not very many. Honestly the victory over NIU in 2016 sort of falls into this category...great game to attend and will always remember it but beating NIU was not a great "accomplishment" for a college football team that year. As a pokes fan you have to find your enjoyment somewhere though...and those types of crazy games whether it is winning a triple overtime game after a lighting delay or playing at Tennessee and coming away with a win are definitely memorable.

I really hope that Texas Tech goes on a run now...would only add to the impressiveness of that victory.

Agreed, that is what makes WYO special...the "always the underdog" mentality. When the wins like last Saturdays do come along, WYO fans are giddy for weeks, myself included. And I agree with your Tech sentiment, this Saturday will be very interesting (they play Oregon in Lubbock - as I am sure you know).
