Pending approval by the University, but I can't see why they wouldn't approve an alum.

Nice! I'll be anxious to see the recruiting ties he's developed over the years.

I believe he will be the first former Colorado Mines coach to come to Wyoming so there's that!

Being at Illinois State the last 5 years, I think will be very helpful because he has probably gained ties in the midwest and especially at the FCS level (which could be transfer portal targets).

What would you think of bringing aboard a head coach of an FCS program whose team had the following offensive national stats this past season:

1) 3rd in scoring offense per game
2) 2nd in points scored
3) 2nd in rushing offense
4) 4th in first downs per game
5) 3rd in turnover margin
6) 21st in passing efficiency
7) 26th in pass yards per completion
8) 35th in passing completion percentage
9) 4th in time of possession

Yes. Very efficient offense.

Unfortunately the OC is limited by the offensive scheme Bohl wants run. The stats you posted prove that out, to me anyway. I’m not sure it’s as much about who you hire - as much as Bohls willingness to change the offense.

Again, it bears repeating that Vigen doesn't directly run MSU's offense, and his OC is a rather talented and knowledgeable individual who runs an offense that he learned under other coaches. I stand by the notion that Vigen is a terrible playcaller and a terrible QB coach who was further hamstrung by Bohl.

However, Vigen also has thus shown a willingness as a HC to hire good, modern offensive talent and let them do their thing...as well as the ability to take over a stable, decent program and continue to build upon it.

No way Vigen comes back as OC again, especially not when he's got MSU fighting for national championships. Nor would I want him as OC under Bohl again. But...provided we didn't run him out of Laramie and there's no incredibly hard feelings, I wouldn't be opposed to him as HC at all.
