117th Edition of Border War

I've never been less enthused about a border war. It doesn't help that both teams are terrible. But the fact that the sheep have jumped conferences makes me think this rivalry is over. I know we will play them in the future. But it won't be the same. In fact, I wouldn't mind if this was the last border war. It is weirdly fascinating watching them trying to make the jump to relevancy and falling flat on their face over and over. What's less fascinating is watching us strive for mediocrity and then wondering why no one wants us in their conference.

Not to mention us falling on our faces to even be mediocre...
 
This used to be my favorite game of the year. Especially after BYU left the conference. Now I have 0 interest in playing CSU anymore. They used to be a partner institution, but it's clear that isn't important to them anymore. It makes me sick how Burman bent over backwards to keep the series going after watching them stab us in the back.

I couldn't agree more.
 
I'm torn. I would hate to see a 117 game series just go away. I also don't like making any concession to someone that conspired to leave us behind and now it trying to dodge the financial repercussions of their decisions. I think I'm the most into this one of any of the border wars during my relatively short fandom because starting in 2026, they won't feel the same to me.

Unfortunately as we enter this perhaps last meaningful Border War, both schools present utterly pathetic teams.
 
Well, it is sold out, so clearly a lot of fans seem excited. I’ll be there in all black! A whipping like the 44-0 game would make the night in black worth it! Go Pokes!
 
Not a fan of the blackout concept. Feels like something an AD staffer saw at another game and decided we should do it too. My wife suggested a brownout would be more suitable for UW.
 
I decided to tune into this game and am glad I did.

Our players have a different intensity about them tonight. This doesn’t even look like the same team we’ve seen in the first seven games of the season.

How much of it is due to the OC change? How much of it is due to this game being a rivalry game? How much of it is CSU just being a really bad football team? I don’t know, but I’m hoping this level intensity can remain for the rest of the season.
