We are still in first place in the conference. We can still accomplish all our goals. We're fine. I trust our coaches and players and am thrilled at the season we've been having. It's been a lot of fun and will continue to be a lot of fun. Now is the time that these guys need our support and encouragement.

Agreed. Let's move on. Two teams tied for 1st. 5 teams 1 game back.
Let's beat Nevada and CSU. Regroup, then prepare for two home games in the next week.

If you ever need to laugh, just remember there was some idiot who wanted Bohl fired after 2 seasons.

agreed, now if we play the same way against Nevada on saturday and the same results come about, then it's time to worry but I'm hoping the fans continue to come out help us beat a pesky Wolf Pack team and we get the job done, AS A TEAM

Good Posts - Good Thread.
It's college basketball - any given night, anyone can be on the winning side, and anyone can be on the losing side.
This won't be our last loss, but we won't lose Saturday!

I'm with you boys. I think we have all now got our realistic views set now. We were pretty bothered by some of our losses and near wins, we wanted more. We can't get too greedy because we're squeezing a lot of what we've got. Awww being a Wyoming fan means forever being humbled over and over. Think of all the fun emotional roller coaster rides we've been on already. The highest highs we've seen in AGES.....

This is still the best team we've had in Laramie for a decade. They deserve our support, and I'll damn sure do my part in giving that to them. The last team to go undefeated was the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers. EVERY team loses one here and there. I'd rather lose one now (and we've only lost 4 times this year!) than lose one in March.
This team will bounce back this weekend against a really poor Nevada team. We'll also pull out all the stops against the sheep next Wednesday. Getting a road win in this conference is TOUGH, and we've done it 3 times so far. There is no doubt in my mind that this team will learn from this and get better.

Agree to an extent. This is definitely the best team Wyo has seen since the early 2000s, and it is a shame that one loss can make us feel this way. However, in an honest assessment we have an extremely limited margin of error with one of the 20 worst schedules in non-conference in the country.
To realistically get an at large birth we will have to at a minimum go 14-4 regular season, while winning at minimum a share of the conference title. With this finish to the year they would need at least 1 win in the conference tournament and an rpi of at least mid 50s or higher.
If we lose to anyone at home the likelihood drops significantly, if we lose to any of the teams on the road outside of UNLV, UNM, and SDSU you will have to make up for it with winning two of those three just mentioned.
I love this team and they are very fun to watch and I still believe they can make it to the tournament and have a successful season like we all hope, but the unfortunate reality is we can't afford another blunder like last night or those hopes and dreams will only be realized with a tournament championship.

So if we drop more than 4. Say, 13-5 or 12-6, then based on who the losses are to, we may just need to pick up those two wins in the conf tourney. And then, we may be right back to where we need to be.
I am just going to watch this play out. So far we've had better success under Shyatt than we did under McClain, minus an NCAATourney appearance, and we've been getting better recruiting classes, year after year. So I don't really think we will drop down to mediocrity like we did with McClain. This team may be our best since the 80's . And we're pulling off our best year with less talent than the early 2k teams had. That is straight up coaching.

Exactly and good thread. Hell, everyone remembers when Shy was hired. What was the general thought? If I remember correctly, it was that it would take several years to re-establish WYO bball.
This is his 5th season. IMO, it has been damn good progression. This is exactly how you build a program. Papa Shy has done one hell of a job!

Cowboys are gonna be fine!! I agree. Losses happen. That's the nature of sports. As pointed out above, I'd rather get a loss out of this team's system now, than lose a big game in the future. We're having a great season and I am thoroughly enjoying the ride. Let's see how UW responds on Saturday!

I like our board. We have a lot of passion and I think we have a good understanding of what's going on. A little irrational and emotional here at times but I understand all of that too. It's hard not to have knee jerk reactions for what you want out of season this big for us. ROCK ON POKES NATION!!! ROCK ON!

Honestly how many people thought we were going to go into USU and win? I figured we would have a better showing then we had but we haven't won there in years. They defend the home court almost better than anyone in the nation.
Knew it would be tough but we didn't have any fire or passion, Hankerson was the only person that celebrated that 80 foot 3 pointer, The entire team should have been fired up with that shot going down.

Great point. WYO is surprising us this year in many facets. How many of us also believed we'd lay a (sweet) sweep of Colorado State? That alone is a sign of a successful season. Even if somehow WYO does not make the dance, I'll still be happy about that.Wyo2dal wrote:Honestly how many people thought we were going to go into USU and win? Careful what you say. Just accepting a top 3 finish in the league and sweeping your rival (21-4) and seeing and enjoying the most success we've had in years is one thing, but if we don't make the NCAA tourney or we're snubbed by the committee (like 27 win SMU last year) then we are only excepting mediocrity...

I see your point and it's a good one. This team is capable of qualifying for the NCAAT. WYO has demonstrated greatness during the year. I agree if they somehow missed the postseason, it would be a shame.kansasCowboy wrote:Careful what you say. There's still work to do. Yet the schedule down the stretch is very favorable. I predict it will come down to the MWC Tournament... and there is the defiant possibility the title is needed for a bid. Right now WYO does not have the resume of an at-large team. Though I think they are headed in that direction.
On a side note, the success of the men's basketball team is great. Think it's what all the fans deserve after what happened on the gridiron.
