WYOMING

INSIDE SLANT
Wyoming coach Joe Glenn vowed to ride quarterback Karsten Sween this season and live with the results.

So far, the Cowboys sophomore has taken his team on a wild but productive ride.

Sween's 5-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Michael Ford with two minutes left in the game rescued his four-interception day as Wyoming rallied for a 34-33 road victory at Ohio on Sept. 22.

The Cowboys (3-1) overcame seven turnovers and a 23-6 second-half deficit to stun the Bobcats (2-2).

"It's more fun to learn from your mistakes when you win than it is when you lose like last week," coach Joe Glenn said.

Sween was 26-for-36 for 174 yards and two touchdowns to go along with his four interceptions. The Cowboys rushing attack, led by junior Devin Moore, helped save Sween after it produced only 65 yards on the ground in the first half.

The Cowboys had 202 rushing yards after halftime.

Wyoming finished with 441 yards of total offense to Ohio's 292, as the Cowboys' rock-solid defense recorded four takeaways.

After the offense finally gave it the lead, the Wyoming defense closed out the game when Ohio fumbled on a failed hook-and-lateral on fourth-and-28 with 21 seconds remaining in the game.

NOTES, QUOTES
GAME BALL GOES TO: RB Devin Moore, who had 12 carries for 140 yards and two TDs all in the second half. He had a game-long 42-yarder and scored on runs of 1 and 17 yards to help the Cowboys make up a 23-6 deficit they had early in the third quarter. Moore nearly doubled his season total of 237 yards going into the game. The rushing attack kept Wyoming in the game when QB Karsten Sween was trying to give it away in the second half.

KEEP AN EYE ON: Sween's regression. He started the season completing 25 of 34 for 253 yards and one interception in the season-opening 23-3 win over Virginia. Since that game, Sween is 71-for-116 for 581 yards with seven interceptions. The Cowboys even inserted backup Ian Hetrick for a series, but he, too, was promptly picked off. Sween now has a bye week to get back on track before facing arguably the best defense in the Mountain West Conference in TCU.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Just an emotional roller coaster. I don't think I've ever been in a game that was like this in my life. The heart of a very determined football team came through in the end. It was uphill, in the wind all day long, and they were not to be denied." Coach Joe Glenn, on his players' resolve.

STRATEGY AND PERSONNEL
LOOKING GOOD: CB Julius Stinson intercepted his third pass of the season and had a pass breakup against Ohio. He still leads the team with 30 tackles, netting six against the Bobcats.

The Cowboys defensive line came up with four sacks, four players each getting one. The unit also came up with a key fumble recovery. The line is a big part of the reason Wyoming came in as the 10th-ranked unit in the nation in yards allowed at 227.7.

RB Wynel Seldon also was productive against Ohio, running the ball 21 times for 92 yards and one TD. He has provided a strong complement for Devin Moore's speed by running tough between the tackles.

STILL NEEDS WORK: The line has not helped QB Karsten Sween's cause. Though it has protected well for Wyoming's running game, it surrendered four sacks against Ohio and 11 on the season. It must do a better job of protecting Sween, who may be peeking at the rush and getting rid of the ball before he wants.

Wyoming's punt return team was responsible for both fumbles. Specialists Hoost Marsh and Troy Lewis each had one.

ROSTER REPORT: OL Ryan Otterson started despite being bothered by a strained arch in practice during the week.

S Alex Toney suffered a sprained right knee.
