"Frank The Tank". Ya, in it's purest sense. As in, "let's all go streaking in the quad", will certainly be the highlight of his time at UW, and his highest accomplishment. From what I read, the kid wasn't even mentioned in the top of Wyoming HS athletes, not even all-state...second team, not O or D POY, nothing. I wish him all the luck in the world, but this one puzzles me...and should any of you, if you watched ANY Wyoming high school football.joshvanklomp wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 3:56 pmhttps://twitter.com/rpgagliardi/status/ ... 1909928960cali2wyo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 3:46 pmI believe he's the son of Gary Crum, currently a bank president in Laramie.

Looks pretty solid so far. Here's a few uncommitted guys we might be able to hope for:
Lance Babb II: 3 star WR (https://247sports.com/player/lance-babb-ii-46040116)
Steven Shaw: 3 star SDE (https://247sports.com/player/steven-shaw-46042168)
Perrion Winfrey: 3 star DT (https://247sports.com/player/perrion-winfrey-46039840)
Maurice Gaines: 3 star CB (https://247sports.com/player/maurice-gaines-46038930)
Tyric Lebeauf: 3 star CB (https://247sports.com/player/tyric-lebeauf-46039278)
Max Janes: 3 star TE (https://247sports.com/player/max-janes-46049759)
Jeremy Banks went to Tennessee
I'm actually _REALLY_ excited about Jackson Marcotte. 6'7, 230 lbs TE who also had basketball offers. Don't want to be a size queen, but I really like having large receivers both at WR and TE to cause mismatches and to overpower on the edges when we run.
Also wish I could include Chuck Wick on this list, but looks like he's probably going to choose one of our division rivals (https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Chuck ... tInterests).

I had heard around my office that UW was offering a Laramie kid and I was about to go to Eric Worden and congratulate him on his son (Garret, heck of a player, borderline D-1 kid) getting a scholly. Never got around to it and it came out that Crum got the scholly. Ha! Gary Crum is a GREAT guy and great supporter of the Pokes. If this scholly is a thank you for his dad so be it.McPeachy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 4:16 pm"Frank The Tank". Ya, in it's purest sense. Looks like we beat CSU for several recruits including Watts, Muma, Miles Williams and either Reow Jackson or Rome Webber, can't remember which one,
Don't know why, but I've got a really good feeling about Watts. He's one I'll be watching.
Others whose tape I really liked were Jevon Bigelow, Charles Hikes and Solomon Byrd.
Welcome all to Wyoming!!

You have to figure they see a project that can become something great with the right coaching. You can't teach someone to be as big as he is and with that frame he could be very big. They see a project and hopefully it pans out, if it doesn't he wouldn't be the first scholly to wash out.LanderPoke wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 6:39 pmI had heard around my office that UW was offering a Laramie kid and I was about to go to Eric Worden and congratulate him on his son (Garret, heck of a player, borderline D-1 kid) getting a scholly. If you look at Josh Allen on paper no way hes even an NFL prospect let alone a potential first rounder.McPeachy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 4:16 pm"Frank The Tank". Ya, in it's purest sense. HUH? What does that have to do with what I saw on the High School football field this fall? I was not comparing a high school lineman, to an NFL lineman.poke_addict wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 9:44 pmIf you look at Josh Allen on paper no way hes even an NFL prospect let alone a potential first rounder.McPeachy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2017 4:16 pm"Frank The Tank". McPeachy, I haven't watched any film on the kid, but I can tell you 6'7" and 260 doesn't grow on trees. From the pictures I've seen, he still has quite a bit of maturing to do which is great for the future. Give him a few years and I'm guessing that thought will change a little.

No doubt, agree. Although a lot that size are quite soft...it doesn't automatically make them great football &/or basketball players because they have size. As I know, you know.NebraskaCowboy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2017 9:09 am McPeachy, I haven't watched any film on the kid, but I can tell you 6'7" and 260 doesn't grow on trees. I was just commenting on what I saw from 6 high school games (2 of Laramie), and he was far from the best on the field. It was clear to me, the Wyoming HS coaches thought the same, based on post-season accolades.
Clearly the UW coaches know a lot better than I do...I am not getting paid $300,000, $400,000, or much much more by putting my longevity on the line of an 18 year old.
Personally, and this is just my opinion, I think UW should automatically offer the Wyoming HS OPOY and DPOY. I hope they are evaluating every kid that is in the top 25 and/or a Wyoming first team selection. Which I am sure they are. Maybe.
Bottom line, I wish the kid all the best, but can't help think there were maybe 15 others from Wyoming high schools (or so) that would be better suited for a full ride, all things considered.
