This game will be won or lost on the turnover margin.
I say we limit empty possessions and win it 75-71.

Just got home from the game.
Might be the worst officiating- ever. That’s saying a lot. Walter’s was actually tackled running down the court - no call, and it got worse from there. But, the Pokes didn’t look good in the first half. A lot to overcome.

Agreed, and our 3 point shooting percentage (6 of 26 for 23.1%) will not win many games, against anyone.Itsux2beaewe wrote: ↑Tue Feb 06, 2024 11:07 pmJust got home from the game.

I’m no basketball genius. But I was really confused by how many times Linder screamed at the team to clear the lane for either Kot or Walters to just take it themselves. I get that there are certain situations you call for that. But it doesn’t seem to me to be an effective offensive philosophy unless you have a Kobe Bryant type.

I saw the same, maybe he was in "last resort" mode...to get them into foul trouble and get us to the line. Nothing else was working.OrediggerPoke wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 8:16 am I’m no basketball genius. It's hard not to feel that way sometimes....by and large, I think in college sports you have enough outcomes that don't go the way that conferences want them to go that I don't think that there is a grand conspiracy run by conferences to influence outcomes via referees. That being said....with the rise in betting, referees are subject to incredible incentives to fudge things around. Basketball is incredibly sensitive to this.

I'd say the refs were worth 6-7 points to the Lobos. So not nearly enough to swing the game. But still quite the screwing307bball wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 9:46 amIt's hard not to feel that way sometimes....by and large, I think in college sports you have enough outcomes that don't go the way that conferences want them to go that I don't think that there is a grand conspiracy run by conferences to influence outcomes via referees. Does the calls/no calls account for more points, if a player has to change his play (maybe becomes less aggressive because of phantom calls) because he’s worried about getting a foul. Maybe the other team scores more because of it. Just a question. I certainly believe that happens.LanderPoke wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 9:53 amI'd say the refs were worth 6-7 points to the Lobos. How the referees call the game absolutely has an enormous impact. That is why you see coaches and players lobby so much for certain "interpretations". It's a part of the game.Itsux2beaewe wrote: ↑Wed Feb 07, 2024 12:37 pmDoes the calls/no calls account for more points, if a player has to change his play (maybe becomes less aggressive because of phantom calls) because he’s worried about getting a foul.
